Rambling with Kirk 2015: Prolouge
on: April 06, 2015, 08:27:08 PM
Spring is here, and it's time for me to start my rambling. Today's outing was a short one, just a Prolouge to those I've planned for later in the year

Todays ramble followed part of the Thames Down Link which runs from Kingston Upon Thames to the North Downs Way(also the ancient trackway called the Pilgrims Way)

Rather than yap on about the Hogsmill heres what Wikipedia has to say:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hogsmill_River

This ramble covers 'my' section of the river, from the main railway line from London to Portsmouth and Southampton to the A3 road, plus the leg of the river up to the London/Chessington branch of South West Trains. From there, theres a short detour to Old Malden
There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Still, time for one for the family album :D

One of the contradictions of living in London is this: One second your looking at this

The next, you turn around to this

Hate the A3. Way too much money at one end and slums the other :(

Fantastic little corner you've found though :)

Not exactly a classic bridge compared to some I've posted here, but Sawman,I hope you like it anyway :D

This carries the Chessington branch line, and if I've my local rail history right, dates to just before WW2

I think you all know I've a bit of a thing for war memorials. This one is no exception

I took a walk around the churchyard. It's the first time in many years I've set foot of consecrated ground. Thankfully,I didn't get struck down on the spot ;)

I thought these head stones might be of interest

Nice thread!

Triumph Herald?

The gravestones look very cartoonish in their askew-ness.

Happy Building!

Lovely pictures and what a great idea. I've spent most of the winter just gone hiking around part of the other end of the North Downs Way, but not once did I think to document it

I visited the UK in 2000 as an exchange student and would like to visit again. I miss London..
