Does Def Deserve a Merit Badge?
on: April 07, 2015, 02:35:24 PM
So here is my conundrum- I am all about fair play, but I am also the one with keys to the cabinet where the Merit Badges are kept, so I figured I needed to come up with a way of making sure everything was on the up and up, and that I earn badges the same as everyone else.  So here goes, my first attempt will be at the Charge Collector Badge.

For this badge I need to show that I have at least five different Charge models in my collection.  Here are the first four:

Charge AL with my name and Multitool.org on it from Leatherman, two Charge ALX's customized with MTO logo (and one of which signed by Tim Leatherman!), number and custom made and anodized scales, and a tiger striped Charge Tti, customized by our dearly departed friend Crouton.

And number five is my Charge SLV:

So, does this count as five different Charges or do I need to toss in more?  You be the judge!  Voting will be open for three days at which point I'll either request a badge or I won't.  :D

Thanks!

This is part of the top shelf of my Multitool Display Cabinet as the four in the top picture are some of the crown jewels of my collection.  The tiger Charge was part of my EDC for a while but I retired it as it is irreplaceable.

BTW, Tim Leatherman tried to leave his mark on the tiger stripe Charge but that coating is virtually indestructible and he couldn't scratch it!  As a matter of fact, he was so impressed by it he borrowed it a moment to show to someone else.  Bob and I were both giggling like school girls when he did.  :D

I think you deserve "Looks good in a dress"-badge :D

And since its not like you are going to get more money or higher heels if you have more badges I see no reason, why you can't award some to yourself...
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I vote yes!

Has anyone thought about changing the "outer ring" color around the badge? Maybe it's gold if you have one signed by tim?

Not a bad idea for a future badge- Tim Leatherman autographed!

Would I get another badge for having a tool signed by Peter Hug, former CEO of Wenger?  :D

I'd say "top shelf" doesn't begin to describe how amazing those first 4 charges are  :dd: adding the SLV in the mix earns you a badge no doubt!

Technically that is only four models  :pok:  however IMO the tiger stripes (best looking scales on a Charge ever  :gimme:) count for at least a couple extra models.  :tu:

I suppose that and a Custom User badge too, but all in good time!

Sooooo 25-0 in favor of me getting my first badge.  That seems pretty succinct!

I shall request it immediately and perhaps submit my next badge attempt shortly.  :D

Thanks everyone!

Write a review using the official MTO Review Format (as seen in the Review Section) and if it is published on the Main Site you get a Reviewer Badge.

I am sure there are a few reviews that have been written through the years by various members, possibly some of mine too, that follow the aproximate main site format.

The problem is who will check them all and find the right ones. Someone will need to go back a few years...
