Waterskin
on: April 07, 2015, 07:57:38 PM
I just bought myself a waterskin for hiking.
The idea is that a waterskin is much easier to carry around on light summer half day hikes when a backpack is too much hassle.
Im not sure if it was a good Idea yet.
This one takes 2liters.
Does anyone else use waterskins?

I have one but never actually used it, 2 kilo of load on that thin string is pretty uncomfortable.

As for cleaning I imagine you can dump some detergent inside and rub the lining against the other side.

Hmm I suppose you could :tu:. I never liked water bladders much due to the relative difficulty in cleaning them properly.

For the plastic ones that goes in backpack I just dump in some diluted bleach and swish around, seems to work well enough.

Cleaning can be an issue, but some iodide or diluted klorine should take care og that.

I will have to put a fatter strap on it I think.

I've never had much issue cleaning water bladders, it's cleaning the mouth peices and tubing (like a camelback hose) that is the hardest part.

Usually I soak in bleack, scrub with a tube hose, and replace the mouthpiece.
