The Wave Saved the Day for a Young Deer
Yesterday morning I went to a friends house to get our hunting trails cleared behind his house and to get our shooting lanes cleared (using the saw on my Wave and the saw on his Charge Ti) to put up our hunting stands for the next month. Nothing could have prepared us for what happened next though. On the way back we heard this terrible noise coming from his yard, like an animal in distress. We ran back to his yard to find that at some point, when we walked back to the woods, we spooked a young deer out of the woods and while running through his yard managed to get tangled up in his electric fence he has around his garden. Not knowing how long the young doe had been tangled, he ran to kill the power to the fence. I carefully approached, because she was crying loudly, but no kicking or thrashing like I thought she would. Once the power was cut, I got as close as I safely could, pulled out the Wave, and cut the fence from around her. Once I knew she was down for a little while, I got right up to her and removed the remaining wire from around her legs. We then helped her up and took her over to his small in-ground fountain, so she could drink. She was barely able to stand but did. After about 5 minutes of gaining her strength back, she was running back into the woods. He called me back and said she was there last night drinking and there again this morning. True, we are both deer hunters, but we do not believe in letting an animal suffer. Thanks to the Wave, she did not have to suffer.

Thanks for sharing, always good to see tools put to very good uses.

Some people would think that's there no such critter as a humane hunter, but those are the ones that never get out and see the deer population exploding,at least here in southern Ohio anyway. How's the deer in your neck of the woods? BTW,did you see the story about the 6-legged fawn that was found in Georgia?

Yes I did hear about it. Something isnt it? The deer down here are ok, an 8 point down here is about the same size as a 4 point up there, but it is all meat in the freezer. About 50 years ago a world record was taken down here in Catoosa state park. I forget how big it was, but it was a huge mule deer taken with a .30/30.
The wife's cousin took a nice 10 point behind our house last year with his Ruger 7mm

As far as the tool goes, I had saved the nieghbors dog too. Cut her from a briar patch behind the house.

I will always stick by the statement of not letting an animal suffer. I hear so many times of people just going out to shoot a deer just to do it, and it angers me!! An ethical hunter goes out for 2 things. To enjoy the outdoors and bond with nature, and also to put some meat in the freezer.

It angers me because that deer could have been taken by a young kid, taken out on his first hunt, and it could have been his trophy. People who go out here killing animals for no reason like that are the ones who are giving hunting a bad name.
