ToolZall Electricians and Bear & Son Tools.
on: June 02, 2010, 12:46:29 AM
I just received another Sazabi package. This one contained two Electrician multi-tools. When he offered them to me, I figured I got really luck as I had won a Bear & Son Electrician just prior to the offer, but the seller quickly refunded me once they figured out they weren't able to get any more in stock. So I was on the hunt for an Electrician that was made by Bear & Son when Sazabi offered me not one but two Toolzall Electricians by Crescent…The Pro version is just a rebranded Bear & Sons unless I have my facts wrong. Not so sure about the other Electrician. Either way, the addition of these Electrician models sort of completes my Bear & Son mini collection.

Enough rambling and on with the photographs.

Here, you can see that one of them is called a ToolZall Electrician by Crescent.

Next up is the ToolZall Electrician Pro by Crescent.

A group shot of all my related Bear & Son multi-tools.

1.   Mini Bear Jaws.
2.   ToolZall Electrician Pro by Crescent.
3.   ToolZall Electrician by Crescent.
4.   ToolZall Pro by Crescent.
5.   ToolZall Pro by Crescent.
6.   Super Bear Jaws.
7.   Bird Shears.
8.   Gardener.

Nice. For some reason, I really like the Electrician Pro. I think the heads of these tools are super ugly. Could you do a wirestripping comparison between these tools and the E4? I noticed you don't have a regular Bear Jaws.

i would appreciate your opinion on this line of ttols (bear and sons) compared to others.  Pretty uncommon around here.

Great pics as usual!

They are very hard to come by up in Canada...that is certain. I hadn't anticipated their being so scarce, even on eBay.

My opinion is mixed. Some of the quality control on some of them is definitely not up to par. Others are built with excellent QC. They do have a nice weight and feel to them. The shiny polished stainless handles give you the sense that you have a Victorinox Swisstool in your hands, but they are decidedly old designs...and in that they have a charm all their own.

Ari6126, It wasn't for wont of trying. Bear & Son Tools are hard to come by. Although I might add, Sazabi seems to be living in a Crescent ToolZall rich area. I have never seen these tools up here either.

As for cutting wire, they all do the job. However, the Electrician and Electrician Pro are better at it then the smaller Leatherman.

I wouldn't call that single shop exactly rich in them; they just have had old stock and I was lucky enough to stumble by them.  With that said, the few remaining Crescent ToolZalls (regular, Electrician, and Electrician Pro) that I have were the only ones they had for good prices... otherwise they're on par with the grossly overpriced Antique Store that has SS and colored Mini Bear Jaws for $49 each, a Bear Jaw for $78ish, and a Super Bear Jaw for $89ish. :/

That "ToolZall Electrician by Crescent" looks more like a PST with a wire stripping head, than a Bear&Sons tool, what with the inside opening tools and all... :-\

If I remember correctly, the original ToolZalls were essentially PST knock-offs.  I don't know if Bear was involved at that point, but I thought Cooper were manufacturing them in-house.  The Electrician looks like it's based on the original design.
Half-ass done wholeheartedly!

Yeah I'd agree - doesn't look much like a Bear that one. What's the quality like Chako?
I used to come here a lot.

Yes, the Electrician is not a Bear & Son. Quality is not bad. my only complaint is that the rubber grips are a bit disconcerting and too grippy.

I am somewhat certain that ToolZall multi-tools are no longer being produced. I couldn't find an online presence if nothing else. Here is the main Crescent tools website.

http://www.crescenttool.com/

However, Bear&Son still produce their multi-tools, of which the ToolZall tools were produced by anyways.

You might be able to send them a message and see if they can do something for you. As for Chile, I can't help you there, sorry.
