Hello from South America
on: April 19, 2015, 04:51:23 PM
Hi there, presentation time!

Timeline:

8y old - Know about McGyver

10y old- A father's colleague had a Huntsman or something like that to show off after lunch, I fall in love but as far as I remember I don't even touch it

13y old- Buy a chinese fake, something like a Huntsman with a fish scaler

25y old- Buy a Swisscard Quattro for college (retired)

2y ago - Geek out multitool.org

1y ago - Buy a Cybertool 34, a Rebar, a Micra and a Midnight Manager

Current data:

Location - Argentina, town in the middle of the desert although there is a thin stripe of fertile ground running with the river (think Egypt: nice and green around Nilo but come on, desert all around). 5 hours by car away from Andean forest/mountains (very similar to Alpine geography)

Age - Closer to 30s than 20s

Education - IS/IT Engineer

Everyday occupation - Web developer, all around guy at a retail store, music student

Off days
- WWW surfer
- Boardgamer
- Whatever a mountain could bring in (snowboarding, climbing, trekking, cycling, camping, ...)

Gear:

Keychain - 3 keys, Midnight Manager, carabiner

Backpack - Cybertool 34

Desktop - Micra

That's it, I'm really minimalist. I actually believe that I shouldn't need anything else in day to day life and I don't always carry my backpack so, Midnight Manager it is!

For specific tasks (or if someone calls me because reasons) I grab the right tool/s plus a small oganizer with:

Rebar [Leatherman]
Crescent wrench [Rottweiler]
Marker [Sharpie]
Ballpen [Bic]
Pencil [Faber-Castell]
Zip ties [ :D ]
Diagonal pliers [Bullit]
5mm, 4mm, 2mm Allen wrenches [ :D ]
4 Cr-V Screwdrivers [Nisuta]
Screwdriver grip [Nisuta]
Scissors [Tramontina]
Measure tape [Gardex]
Lighter [Bic]
Insulating tape [3M]
Gel metacrilate [La Gotita]

About my current tools, EDC, etc: I couldn't be happier.

Anything you want to ask or point ("you don't have that...", "what if...", etc) just say it. We may learn something.

Regards,

Pablo

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

Welcome aboard   :tu:

I wonder if we can corrupt you by tempting you with all the things you WANT  (as distinct from the few things you NEED )  ?

Thank to my lazinnes. This thing grew on my subconscius through two years and I never sat in order to write it.

 :pok:   ;)
Even if you corrupt me, there are heavy limitations:
- These things are extremely expensive around here. Nominal price is around 3x. Then add it in the fact that money is harder to come by around here (we have to work harder in order to earn $1) and we have something like 5x. Think about any SAK or multitool, how frequently will you pay five times what you are currently paying?
- There are absolutely no deals on local market. Used things are a bit cheaper and that's it. No pawn shop finds, no auctions crazinnes, no sellings by lots, etc
- Customs doesn't allow ANY import of used items. Only new (preferably factory sealed) items with an invoice

Yeeeeeeeeeh. After two years I know you all NEED pictures. Those will come by. Eventually.

Hola Narcoleptico!

The site technician is in Mar Del Plata, so that's all the Spanish words I am going to use- the other ones he taught me aren't very good for a family friendly forum!
