Got these three, since the last time I posted in this thread.

A brass Tandorio 47mm, for my aging eyesight, a brass boderry and a SS Cadisen. The first two run on Seiko movements and the last one on Miyota.
The Cadisen is definitely the best value for money, but has some rough edges at the bottom of the case.

Awesome looking watches

Like the lume on the Boderry.

The main lume is good but the loom on the hexaconal pattern on the dial is pathetic

I might be missing something here, but isn’t the main lume what matters?

One of the main selling points of this is that you also have a nice hexagonal, beehive style lume in the dial too.
If you look on youtube, where people get free samples they say how great and nice it is..., however, if you read the reviews of those that actually paid for them you realise that the dial lume is weak and very short lived. You can see it in a photograph/video with some contrast adjustment in a camera, but in real life it is not visible.

To give a simple comparison example is like buying a nice car that boasts of a very nice and bright interior and finding out that it is not. Yes it looks nice on the outside, but the interior is not as expected/advertised.

Makes more sense now, thanks!

A rather nice new watch was delivered today, opened with my Bond for one of today’s challenge thread photos.

I’m not sure how much use it’ll get, but I like it!

G-Shock and field watches...
How do you like the Timex Expedition? I almost bought one of them. It was among a bunch of forlorn watches at the Wal-Mart nearest my house, many of which had long ago lost their box and instruction manual and/or gained several layers of dust.

But the one below came home with me. I'm more drawn to dark dials, but I felt sorry for this Casio MRW210-7AK. What I'm pretty sure is the same model (only the last letter is different) sells for $36 at casio.com. Wal-Mart had it marked at $27. What did I pay? $17. :woohoo:

Here's another one! This is a Casio MRW200H-1BVKC. It's sorta like a smaller version of the MRW210-7AK I posted recently.

I'm thinking of heading back to Wal-Mart (maybe a different one) in the hopes I can score another watch. Based on your experience, the odds seem to be stacked in my disfavor.

They only took out the Casios (and lots of other stuff) when they did a remodel.  Seems they are doing work on lots of W-Marts now.  If you see anything you like, don't wait.  Best wishes.  G

Those smurfs! :twak:

I did make it to another Wal-Mart today. While they did have Casios, there were none that appealed to me. One Forester did until I saw the green around its case. I'd be happy to make a run back there and see if anything might appeal to you.

I appreciate the offer.  I have an old Casio that still works 100%.  That might have to do for a while.  I'm not really a watch collector.  Maybe they will put a watch counter back in Walmart.  The employee told me that jewelry counter had been moved twice in two weeks already.  Might not be the final configuration for that display yet.  There is a discontinued and discounted aisle in that store.  Might pay for me to check that.  Best wishes.  G

Looks good, Antti.  The 10-year battery is for real, too.  They can last beyond that, depending on how much you use the light.  I looked for the Casios at Walmart this morning.  Again.  Couldn't find the display.  Again.  They moved it.  Again.  Best wishes.  G

Nice one, Antti! How are you liking the negative display thus far?

Below is probably the last watch I'll buy for a while...unless an absolutely screaming deal pops up. (There weren't any when I last visited the hock shop.)

That's another good looker.  My neighbor when I was a kid lost his Timex.  Those were wind-up watches at that time.  When he plowed up his garden in the spring, he dug up the watch.  Wound it up and it still worked.  They used to say in their ads.  Timex:  takes a lickin', keeps on tickin'.
Best wishes.  G
