Nice one, Antti! How are you liking the negative display thus far?

Below is probably the last watch I'll buy for a while...unless an absolutely screaming deal pops up. (There weren't any when I last visited the hock shop.)

Negative display has come my favorite, easy to read on day and night its lits up easily to show right time. Also negative display looks cool  8)

:iagree: Some people bash negative displays because they're "so hard to read." It's been my experience that a positive display is a little easier to read, but by the time it becomes significantly easier, you'll be firing off the backlight anyway. In terms of looks, negative displays wipe the floor with their positive counterparts. My eyesight would have to pretty drastically deteriorate before I'd buy another digital watch with a positive display.

I checked out the watch display and it's new location at W-Mart yestiddy.  Had to kill some time as my meds were being filled at the pharmacy.  Not too many Casio left.  Might be 50 or so.  There are some George watches.  None of them appealed to me.  Armitron are almost all gone.  They do have some Timex now, but no sports watches that I saw.
I bet the prices will greatly increase when the store does restock.  The very cheapest Casio watches are already depleted.  There used to be quite a few F-91W new issue models for just under $17.  Best wishes.  G

I went back to the Wal-Mart in Livonia last weekend. There was no new stock, and little (if any) existing stock had been sold. Maybe I'll go and get myself another Timex  or Casio after my tax return arrives.

How do you like the Timex Expedition? I almost bought one of them. It was among a bunch of forlorn watches at the Wal-Mart nearest my house, many of which had long ago lost their box and instruction manual and/or gained several layers of dust.

But the one below came home with me. I'm more drawn to dark dials, but I felt sorry for this Casio MRW210-7AK. What I'm pretty sure is the same model (only the last letter is different) sells for $36 at casio.com. Wal-Mart had it marked at $27. What did I pay? $17. :woohoo:

Sorry Farmer X, I just saw this.
The one you got looks great!  Congrats!
I returned my Timex Expedition, but only because I opted for the Timex Expedition North version instead.

First Ironman in over 30 years!  This is a pretty basic runner's version.

Nice.  I put a new battery in my rather old Ironman.  According to the horologist that changed out the battery he estimated it was early 90s.  I had one of the original Ironman Triathlons and even took it to 100 ft depth on the Great Barrier Reef back in the day.

Definitely not my latest watch though.

Yours is identical to the one I had, which I picked up in 1992.  I wish I still had it!  It was a good, user friendly watch.

Many thanks, I have posted them all before, but thought it would be nice to get them all together.
The only one that has not been regularly used is the orient. They all got into the sea at some point, apart from the Boderry that has a leather strap.

Vintage Ingersoll pocket watch.  Nothing special or expensive but made cool by being the watch used by Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Arc.  8)

Manual wind-up.  It'll run longer than 12 hours, but not for 24.  Not without giving the feeling that I'm stressing the system anyway.  :)

It's off layaway! :woohoo:

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

I spotted this Casio Edifice EFR-523D-7AVEF (I'm pretty sure I correctly identified the model) at a local hock shop. Since it stopped just short of being too flashy for my liking and was substantially discounted, I went for it. I initially thought it was a DOA, but I was merely looking at the wrong second hand. The long one is for the stopwatch, while the regular timekeeping one is just inboard of the 0900/2100 position. That'll take some getting used to. The stopwatch is running in the above photo.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

The second photo shows the stopwatch after I pushed the start/stop button. Getting a photo of it in darkness should be done soon...it has some pretty dang good lume!
