So I haven't bought a watch in a long time, and the last few I obtained were inherited, but I recently decided to pick one up. My first new watch in ~15 years, a G-Shock GD350.

Excellent choice and my favorite model G-Shock!

I wore a GD-350 every day for years until the wife bought me a Luminox. I still wear the GD-350 on occasion and it’s a better watch than the Luminox in my opinion but don’t want to upset the wife.  :D

I agree. Can't go wrong with a good G-Shock as your primary watch  :like:

Hey, Ricardo, are you sure you agree? Maybe one more time would be convincing :D

More seriously, thanks for posting the comparison photo. I didn't realize how darn similar those are. We need a battle royale to figure out which is the best!

you do not have to tell us twice/thrice  :D

It will be interesting to see if the inside construction is similar to a G-shock, or, if it is just a basic digital watch wearing fancy rubber protection.

Nothing against the fakes, you buy whatever you want :)

I will take this one apart, I'm also curious, but from what I read doesn't have any kind of rubber inside, in fact the rubber stays between the watch case and the bezel, from what I see and read also!

Man, I was sorely tempted by some really beautiful analog watches. But I like too many features that come with digital models.

I can't use my phone at work, so that's a good chunk of my week that a watch comes in very handy. And other times I kinda enjoy being able to put my phone down and not need it for those basic functions.

Awesome! I have a regular stainless I.N.O.X. watch with a very boring looking leather strap (you already knew that). Yours looks so much better!

They showed an automatic I.N.O.X. at Baselworld. At last! Will probably be expensive though.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Thanks R.

I like yours too, it's much dressier. An automatic would be nice, not having a battery to change is probably a good thing. Pretty sure I won't be collecting watches, it looks terribly expensive, but learning about them continues to be interesting.

Nice looking piece. I'm curious how a paracord strap will do in wet conditions. Seems like it would take forever to dry.

Thanks WD, it does take a while to dry unless you wear it while wet, the heat from your wrist dries it out pretty fast. I got some oily dirt on the strap and scrubbed it with dish soap and a brush in the kitchen sink, I just set it aside to dry but it took a while. I don't notice it being wet if it gets wet while wearing it, the paracord is actually really comfortable.

After a few days wearing I hardly know it's there except when I want to know what time it is, nice to not have to deploy the phone so often. A long time ago I tried to wear my grandfather's retirement watch, an Omega Automatic from the early 60's. The stainless back case made my wrist tingle and the stretch metal band pulled hairs and was just generally uncomfortable. I think this is what put me off wearing wrist watches all these years, I could never get past the first hour with that thing, it ended up in my pocket pretty fast.

With the titanium case and paracord band with nylon strap there are no allergy issues, so it's been nice to wear. It has formed to my wrist and stays put very well, and easy to adjust for heat, etc. Still not sure if I need a watch this tough, anything that would damage it would surely make a bloody pulp out of my wrist!  :ahhh

Thanks for the detailed reply!
I also hate the metal stretch bands. I can always feel the edges of the segments, which is uncomfortable and distracting.
The resin strap on my G-Shock is decent, but I'm thinking about getting an adapter and swapping in a zulu for the summer.

Which reminds me; anybody know which size zulu strap is the best fit on a GD-350?
