Who keeps a tool box in there car?

I have a tool chest containing a torch,Multi,some handtools and a few other bit n bobs get some pick up tomorrow.

I worry about my stuff getting stolen (no trunk) even though this area
is way more safer than Chicago.

I do! lots of stuff we are looking for something smaller with better gas for short trips
but that truck has really saved us and gotten us almost 3000 miles across the country (in the move)

For some reason the door pocket on the Prius are exactly the right size to fit a 3D Mag.

I keep a tool box, a electrician's bag full of parts, sockets, outlets and connectors, two cordless drills and a corded reciprocating saw. Not just for fun, mind you, all of it becomes essential during a heavy work week, where I could be doing anything from hanging lights to building platforms. What I carry gets USED.

Oh, and one other thing, a first aid kit.

I have a small 12V air compressor for that, works great, it's also a power source (cig lighter plug-in it) and flashlight and emergency light on top.

Old, battered tool box filled with cheap (but functional) tools.

Old, rusty hand axe.

Old, rusty folding shovel/pick.

Old, battered flashlights and an inexpensive LED headlamp.

Tools kept in the car are inexpensive and/or old and battered, but still functional.  Too many items have been stolen out of my vehicles over the years, so I keep nothing really nice or expensive in the car.

My dad was a mechanic and gave me one those auto tool kits for Christmas. It has socket wrenches, drivers, pliers, fuses, et. It's proven very handy..especially when I have to change the blower fan on my Saturn.

And I have two spare tires and a snow shovel in the trunk as well.

I just keep a Vic Fireman or Rescue tool and a cheap MT in the cars.
They're hybrids anyway.  Fat chance I'm gonna be able to fix them!

I keep a small one with what I consider bare essentials, along with one of those 12volt tire inflater's, power inverter, Back&Decker Simple Start Battery Booster. The Black&Decker was a gift, so I figured why not?

The Chevy Avalanche has 2 lockable saddlebags that are accessible from the outside of the truck. I keep a Sears softside briefcase type tool bag in one, along with flares, safety line, snatch strap, and other related items. The saddlebags are some what insulated and have drain plugs in the bottom so they can be used as coolers. Nice feature for secure storage of tools, etc.

I enjoy putting those old, battered tools to good use when unexpected tasks arise out on the road.  It's liberating to have tools that are old enough that you just don't give a damn if they get broken, lost, or stolen.

I keep a tool bag in my car. Its a cheap little cotton thing I picked up at Harbor Freight and its filled with mostly cheap tools. Replacing the whole thing probably wouldn't cost more than $50. It wouldn't cost that much if I didn't have a Vic SAK Hiker in it. Since I don't know much about fixing cars, that's not its purpose. Its for times when I need to fix or jury rig something away from home but near my car.

I usually have everything but the kitchen sink in my Truck I have a set of mechanic tools in my reg tool box, a bunch of misc masonry tools in another box.  Then in my big truck crossover box I have lights, carpenter tools, more mechanic and masonry stuff, small air compressor,  pretty much about anything that I think that I'll need in the near future.....plus a little

In my work truck (toyota one ton dually) I have everything I think I could possably need to work on a house+ jumper cables

In my toy truck (toyota 4runner-convertable) I have bags of goodies that I add depending on where I am going

one has socket set, crecent wrench, jumper cables, jug o water, lug wrench, black tape, duct tape, wire, zip ties, and tire patch kit.

one has a blanket, sweatshirt, matches, lighter, water purifier, 3 day protien bar pack, 2 mre's, fishing line, hooks, antiseptic, comprehensive 1st aid kit including a surgical kit, atlas, couple heavy duty xl garbage bags, boyscout mess kit , wind up flashlight, divers knife, and some other stuff

one has a snatch block, tow strap, tree saver, and D rings

I also carry a foldable shovel, and a high lift jack

I plan on converting a a/c compressor to an air compressor for on board air and eventually would like to get a under the hood welder as well.

after joining this site though,  I see one glaring flaw- I need more multitools!!!

Toyota Tacoma....I don't need any tools for it.  OK, so maybe I have a generic multi, a flashlight, and electrical tape.  I figure thats enough stuff to keep me occupied until the tow truck shows-up with someone who actually knows what they are doing.
