Can you do scales on a BO mod, too or would the BO coating on the liners be ground away when fitting the scales?
I could imagine a big awl tinker in BO with micarta or nice, dark wood scales would look good.

I have done this before, osage orange wood on Syph's blackout Spartan:

I cannot get it 100% perfect like with regular liners (you have to sand the liners at least a little bit to make it perfect), but it's very good. I completely finish the scales on another knife, and then just glue them on blackout

I´ll have to wait for som Paypal-Play Money before I can order a BO mod and scales, but I´ll keep the Idea in my head.... Do you have dark red/brown (oxblood) micarta? And how long is your lead time? Would you be interested in doing another Syph BO one? Oh, and sorry for derailing yet another thread.

If you don't need toothpick and tweezers slots, I can usually do a mod in less than a week. I can do a BO SAK for you without a problem... I'm not sure if my brown micarta qualifies for your description (I suck at colors), but if you send me some micarta I can do it without a problem

Is that the Spartan I have you? Looks so good with the Desert Ironwood?

You have anymore of the Desert Ironwood laying around?

Yeah that's the one. Ended up selling for cheap because I owed the guy a favor. Also I have a soft spot for Canadians...

I have some more ironwood but it will differ in grain slightly. I got a block of it from a new seller (for a customer) and the customer didn't like it at all. He said I could do whatever with it, and apparently people like the crap out of it. Lesson learned - you can never go wrong with desert ironwood :)

Good deal. Once I get a saw and file modded onto my CT I will send it out to you for some wood.
