First Knives and Sentimental Tools...
on: July 29, 2008, 11:16:22 PM
Seems like it would be fun to see some pics of people's more meaningful tools, knives, watches, pens, or the like. :)

I'll start with a few of mine...

Here's a pic of the frist knife I bought, sometime around 5th grade. It's just a cheapo branded "sharp". I bought it because a friend of mine and I wanted to take up whittling, though I never was very good at it. Also in the picture is my first MT, a PST my sisters found by the road while they were out sledding. God must have been smiling on me. :D

Here's a "Camper" that my dad owned. He doesn't use knives/tools all that much, but I snagged this one out of some storage so it won't get lost. It makes a nice pair with the other...

The other is an "Imperial" that my Grandpa (dad's dad) carried. He died when I was just in 5th grade, but he's still been one of the biggest inspirations in my life, so I'm glad I had the presence of mind to pick this up when they were going though/getting rid of his stuff. :)

My all-time personal favorite tool, my old beater KF4 that's been around the world (literally) and through a lot of adventures with me.

Actually, this one got it's own thread a while ago... :)

And one more just for fun, my first keychain knife... a cheap Spyderco Ladybug knock-off, though I didn't know that at the time. It was my first time edc-ing some kind of knife/tool. I never looked back. :)

You can see it got it's fair share of use...

Hehe, yeah it wasn't the greatest quality by any stretch... Of course, to it's credit I beat it up pretty good in my youner days. If I remember right, the corkscrew is all buggered up because I used it to rip apart a broken toaster. I can't remember why I was ripping it apart though... :D

i have one completely polihed mini-tool from my dad who died, and also a old vic i got 21 years ago also from my dad,it was the most ever, when i got it,back then they cost alotr here and he brought it fror switzerland,i only asked for some folder, even with just two blades, and he brought me this with file, scissors, openers, awl, two blades etc,it was like a heaven to me,and helped me ibn scouts and building scla e hot rods too :D.i have it still, its worn but in useful.

then i have these few old swiss sak aluminium scaled golders from my grandpa, theu both have only two blades, other has a main blade and watch opener and other has a pen blade and main bölade, theyre blue and red ones.
my grandpa is my main infuence in about every opinion or attitude and skill i have.the only thing i know im gettin from him as he passes away is this 50 year old hand forged puukko, which he always says that hes about to give it to me since he knows how much i love him and the knife he used on our outdoor trips eversince i could walk.

Yep, those are the kind of things that carry memories and meaning. My grandpa, though he died before I became an adult, has influence a whole lot of my life as well. :) I'm not quite sure where I'd be without his example...

Anyhow, there's lots of cool stuff to buy, but money can't buy those memories... :)

(Any pics? :D)

nice thread and shots

my first knife was a survial/rambo type I got from a TV ad,
broke the first time I used it! (I was a kid).

My first SAK I gave away, to my friend who lost his (mine was from his father).

all my favorite stuff now is only around 3 years old, nothing really
sentimental ..... yet!

Me neither. The oldest one I have is from 6-7 years ago, all the ones from childhood/teenage years were lost, sold or traded away for something else. Wish I woulda kept just one.
