I never thought I'd find something I could post here,  but my uncle Bill was pretty big on train sets

Technically a whole circus

Adlestone station in Surrey.

I promise it's not as miserable as it looks in the photo

No, its worse. Looks like the Apocalypse.

Are those upended boards in the foreground some sort of crossing? If so, they look like a good way to break an ankle.

Saw these today in Morristown today. A Morristown and Erie GP38, and an ancient, beat to hell, Amtrak marked SW1000 or 1500.

Well this is the only picture I have of my one train journey, which I really enjoyed thanks England.

Hull,

Thinking about it your right it does look like a Southeast train. Last November I spent a week in England, first time on trains (well real trains) went up to Hull then down to Portsmouth.

I know, I know. But that is where the conference was.

Also I have got to say the people of Hull love their city which is the important thing.

Today I was in Newark for a doctor's appointment.  Getting there involved taking the Newark Light Rail from Newark P.enn Station. The Light Rail terminus is in the basement of NPenn, where the old Newark Subway started. On the wall along with a modern sign is a beautiful tilework sign in burgundy saying Pennsylvania, in case you didn't know who built the place. I got a pic, but Photobucket is being a pain. >:(  Coming in, Dock Bridge was up to allow a ship through. Very cool, but couldn't get a pic. The bridge in question has its own Wikipedia page, pretty cool history.

A few years back I was on a trip to Japan. While there I rode a bullet train down to Kyoto. Very impressive, particularly when an express came through at 180mph while I was standing on the platform about 70 ft away. WOW!

Down in Kyoto I took a break from visiting temples to hit the local railroad museum. They were running an old 4-6-2 Pacific back and forth on a short section of track. Don't know if repairs were being tested, or someone was receiving training, but fun to watch.

I DVR a show called Trains and Locomotives on the RFDTV network. 1 hour episodes on the history of trains with a lot of B&W archival film and color videos shot on excursion trains that are fired up for special occasions.  They also have a show all about model trains and layouts.

The future?

The color scheme looks like someone was channeling Alexander Calder and his BMW.
