The line it is on branches off the main trunk line and used to run all the way to Mt Somers township, where it met a narrow gauge railway which brought coal from Woolshed Creek.
There is only about 2.5 - 3km of track left so they run the trains that far then reverse them back.

Not off the top of my head, but I used to go up that road years ago to get to Woolshed Creek so might recognize it?

I live not even a mile from their mini yard and if I am in town, it is awesome to hear the locomotive firing up at night  :tu:

I live close to the BNSF Depot and yard and can watch the trains out my window. I love to hear the locomotives powering up. Really pumps up the testosterone!    :D

Just to clarify that line is our normal gauge which I believe is 3'6" which I guess is narrow compared to the US. It used to meet up with a narrow(er) gauge railway near the hills.

I have started a new job at a paper mill, and paper goes out in shipping containers by train. I'll be seeing a train almost every day either bringing coal for the boiler or taking finished paper away :)
