two american icons for a shooting afternoon
on: April 25, 2015, 01:01:51 PM
This day the weather is perfect to go to the shooting range so I'll try to improve my accuracy
on my colt 1856 replica. My leatherman wave is the ideal tool for my colt maintenance because the flathead bit fits all the bolts of it

First off welcome to the forum. Shooting cap and ball revolvers is a great way to spend an afternoon. When I shot store bought black powder my brass frame 44cal Colt/G and G liked a empty 38sp case full of fff black powder and a .454 balls. These day I make my own screened black powder it is less dense store bought or corned black powder with it I fill the chambers with powder and seat the balls flush with the top of the cylinder. By the way it is a 1851 Colt.

I think Alcohol, Tabacco and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

Welcome aboard.  Like Mike said, that's an 1851 Navy.  My father has one, it fits my hand like it was designed just for me.  Beautiful pistol. :tu:

Ahhhh black powder....it's a hobby, it's a sport, it's therapy.  You master a ball, or conicle, at 100 yards and then you can consider yourself a marksman.
