Hello and Help!
on:
May 21, 2015, 04:24:47 PM
Hi Everyone,
New member here and as I would like to pick some brains I thought I would just introduce myself in the same post.
I am from South Africa and have suddenly developed a renewed interest in Saks. I am particularly interested in collecting cellidor 58mm 84mm and 91mm models. I have acquired 35ish in a month so I think this might qualify as a disease.
I have a knife that I would like to show and hope I can get confirmation on what it is/ dates etc.
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can provide.

Hi and welcome here,
It might be a Wenger Classic 101.

Welcome, the gurus will be around shortly but in the mean time this is not a Wenger. It looks like an early Economy 84mm Tourist/91mm Economy Spartan but I'm no expert.

It's a Victorinox Tourist model from the Elinox (Economy) product line, Model 2.3601. Looks to be from c. 1974-1976.

Aloha007: I think you are right! I took a look at the SAKwiki and it indeed looks like a Victorinox Tourist! I was a bit confused because of the label so I thought it could be a Wenger.

Thanks Guys,
I had it as an Elinox Tourist - 1971-1973 (but I have read somewhere that economy models are trickier to date). I thought that all Elinox knives looked this way. I obviously keep bumping up against the economy models. Mostly I am just giddy to have a clip point (hahaha I am such a light weight
).
Jazzbass from what I have read as a lurker you are as near as possible to the final word on these things so thanks for weighing in it was extremely helpful.

Lekker man I think most people were born in that hospital. I haven't been back in about 8 years. I am sure we probably know some of the same people...Small world indeed.
