Not much. I havent removed much steel. I only had to use the rough stone once.

I just did a little search, and its currently US$7.20 shipped on Amazon Prime, and the same price at Home Depot. Even if 420HC doesn't hold an edge as well as the spendy stuff, your Gerber still looks like a lot of knife for the money.  I love sub-$20 knives.

You could do a lot worse than buying the compact for $7.20
There is a lot of junk knives in that pricerange, but this isnt one of them.
