Make your toothpick a little more useful
on: July 10, 2023, 01:28:04 AM
Hi,

I don't find the toothpick very useful. I tried to find a new use for it.

An easy thing to do that might come in handy is to modify it to make a small spool of wire
It could be small fishing line, fine wire, sewing thread, dental floss...

Just file the toothpick by removing the red part and make a notch on the tip, don't forget to refine a bit its thickness as well.

What would you replace the toothpick with? Do you find it useful in its current state?

I use my toothpick at least once or twice a month. This does look handy though.

Good idea. I replaced mine with a ferro fire starter from Tortoise Gear.

I actually get a fair bit of use out of the toothpick for its intended function.  I don’t EDC dental floss, so it comes in handy when I’m out and about and get something annoyingly stuck between my teeth.  (As I’ve pointed out before, you can use the blade of most pocket knives for this function, but you must be much more careful than with the toothpick.)

Good idea but I usually have ample thread in my paracord lanyard.

Nice idea!  :like: :like: As I tend to EDC alox, the toothpick doesn’t really feature in my SAK use…..
