Thanks & Congrats , James!

Was too large to pocket for me personally....... I usually stay 4 layers and under  :tu: . But the "Dangler/Pocket Clips" thang, makes a HUGE difference.

Beautiful inlay!

The Woodsman is an unsung hero in the SAK world I think. Those who have one seem to love them. I know I love mine.

For actual camping in the woods, Explorer is lacking a saw. Ranger on the other hand is great, but if it's post 2005 the file is no good for fingernails, and I'm not sure if I'd ever use a metal file "in the bush" (I can think of uses, but haven't used it so far). Woodsman provides a means to start emergency fires from sunlight as well as to inspect bugs. And the IL phillips is handy for bicycle derailleurs and certain camping equipment, like the screw that holds on the arms to my MSR Superfly stove. So Woodsman might end up being a great camping SAK. If only it had a LNF on back.....

By the way, Magentus, I've seen your green one (or was it another green one?) In pics before and it looked like there was a mysterious liquid behind the scales...wondering what that is...emergency water rations? I mean I know on a boat everything is gonna get wet...

Very good points JJ.

The bubbles are floatation aids - don't want to lose my Greenwood to Poseidon. OR they could be bubbles in the glue I used to fix the scales on solidly. Can't remember.  :D

I like them. Though a bit of glitter in the glue next time would be pretty eye-catching....Poseidon would probably spout that back up at you unless one of the mermaids wants it.

My Woodsman came today. Dirty and freshly over-oiled as they often are. Blades all need attention but nothing was taken too far and they will all clean up. The only 2 issues that may result in a replacement operation are the can opener tip and the phillips. The can opener has the twist I often see in used SAKs. I have 2 other knives waiting to have theirs replaced. Luckily it's a common part. What's not so convenient is the phillips tip. I do have an Explorer in the parts bin with a cracked mag glass frame but I'm not sure the phillips is much better on it.  And old style phillips drivers aren't the cheapest parts to get.

But still. I didn't pay too much and the other tools will be fine.  The 2 "bad" tools are next to each other on the same pin so the repair would be less involved than a full rebuild.

Edit: donor phillips looks pretty good! "We can rebuild him"

Woodsman day today. Coupled with the Spirit, ratchet and spanner I have all bases covered. Unless I have to help deliver a baby. But I'll deal with that if it happens.

Aren't they awesome birds Mags?  Great pics sir!  I shot this pic with my hikers, probably the most comfortable boots I own.  The Woodsman really means outdoor walks to me!
