The Mini Pabsman, still my favorite.  :)
The cornerstone of my trifecta combo.
Still undecided if it belongs to the woodsman family. :ahhh
(Image removed from quote.)

Sometimes I question my decision to leave off the opener layer... but I'm sure that my decision will be justified when I get a pioneer or my BY SAK. :dd:

I'd put that pic in the calendar thread

you'd have my vote!  :D :tu:
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

Hey Pabs,
You cannot decide if your frankensteinish Mini Pabsman belongs to the “woodsman” family or not?
Let me help you with that:
No it does not.

Lol - no. This is on Minchinhampton and Rodborough Common - there are many dips and ridges due to remains of earthworks thought to be part of an Iron Age settlement of the Belgic Dobunni tribe. Last week it was still covered by snow - this week it's all melted away and I took the pic at a little pond formed in a small dip.

Oh cool, history! :like:
I can see the River Liffy from where I am sitting. Due to its flow being controlled by a dam, it goes up and down like it has tides, depending on how much water they're releasing.
Sometimes it goes rather high and turns large areas of grass into a pond for much of its length.

Nice! Bet that 's an interesting view to see every day, season by season. Pics?

Last time I saw the Liffy was in 1999 and they had a submerged digital clock counting down to the Millenium.

The height today is what I'd consider "normal".
Yesterday was a "fairly common" significant rise.
Sometimes it goes up another 15cm or so, but because of the land elevations, that covers a LOT more ground.  :o

Thanks Pabs  :salute: Does it ever rise enough to be a worry for you? I'm guessing as it's dammed they would have thought about local residents

It almost reached the road in front of the houses one time. :ahhh
But the ground rises immediately around the houses, so while flooding the road and bottom of the driveway is in the realm of possibility, I doubt that the houses would ever be flooded, it would require a gigantic amount of water, weeks of constant torrential rain. Or a dam burst.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

As with the U Boat crew, the Lancaster crew don't like to actually blow anything important up. We've just got all this ordnance lying around and it seems a shame to waste it.

Last time I saw the Liffy was in 1999 and they had a submerged digital clock counting down to the Millenium.

The infamous 'Time in the Slime'

Did you hear the story of that?
It was installed under the waters of the Liffey just by O'Connell Bridge in early 1999 - and as you say the idea was as a countdown to the Millennium
However the clock got compleletly covered in algae after a few days - So the council had to employ scuba divers to frequently clean it.
It all got so expensive that they canned the project, and took it away before we even got to the Millennium !!   :o
- Well that's the story I heard   ;)

Whilst we're on Dublin - Don't you love the way Dubliners have irreverent rhyming nicknames for all their famous landmarks:
  • The Time in the Slime
  • The Tart with a Cart
  • The Stiffy by the Liffey
I am sure there are one or two more - Enlighten us Pabs

And whilst I'm on my nostalgic trip down memory lane in Dublin ....

What is the very unusual feature regarding O'Connell Bridge? - Possibly unique in the world.
Clue:  It's a physical feature of the bridge, but not to do with its construction method - Pabs you're not allowed to answer

PS. Thank goodness we're allowed to digress in our threads at MTo. Otherwise I'd have to delete my post.
