John the Woodsman Guy! He’s back!  :ahhh :like: Welcome back!

Been lurking for a very long time and good to be back among the living but probably won't be posting much for a while.

Thanks,

John
Well as long as you’re here, let’s have fun posting. :tu:

Last time I saw the Liffy was in 1999 and they had a submerged digital clock counting down to the Millenium.

The infamous 'Time in the Slime'

Did you hear the story of that?
It was installed under the waters of the Liffey just by O'Connell Bridge in early 1999 - and as you say the idea was as a countdown to the Millennium
However the clock got compleletly covered in algae after a few days - So the council had to employ scuba divers to frequently clean it.
It all got so expensive that they canned the project, and took it away before we even got to the Millennium !!   :o
- Well that's the story I heard   ;)

Whilst we're on Dublin - Don't you love the way Dubliners have irreverent rhyming nicknames for all their famous landmarks:
  • The Time in the Slime
  • The Tart with a Cart
  • The Stiffy by the Liffey
I am sure there are one or two more - Enlighten us Pabs

And whilst I'm on my nostalgic trip down memory lane in Dublin ....

What is the very unusual feature regarding O'Connell Bridge? - Possibly unique in the world.
Clue:  It's a physical feature of the bridge, but not to do with its construction method - Pabs you're not allowed to answer

PS. Thank goodness we're allowed to digress in our threads at MTo. Otherwise I'd have to delete my post.
Fascinating.  :o
Some of that is before my time, better go ask dad about it.  :D
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I finally got my Woodsman together and can join the club! No hook, fluted corkscrew, scissors with screw, and totally untrue-to-history Camping scales. But I plan to primarily use it for camping, so seemed appropriate. Just finished modding it yesterday and already love it!

Looks great!  I admire those who can modify their SAKs.  I do well enough with scratched blades and correctable issues but hit a dead end with bent layers, etc.  My only Woodsman was in fair condition with tools that had lost their snap, etc.  I reconditioned it (don't have a final reconditioned pre-scale replacement photo) and turned it into a very good daily driver thoroughly cleaned and sanitized with snap restored...

I couldn't resist with such a perfect setup.

I do like the idea of a multi-layer Monday.  It really opens things up from a 2 layer SAK to "Sky's the limit".

Nice! There seems to be as many mods as actual Woodsmen! Shows what a popular model it is.

Sapphire & Emerald scales are some of my favorite!  Of course, as a Victorinox enthusiast, it's hard to find something that's not a favorite.

I love the Woodman model!  I have two, so I guess I'm in the club. One is an original "The Nature Company" model with an inlaid rabbit in the scales.

The other is a custom documented in this thread: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,3693.msg54681.html#msg54681
