My New Key Tool
on: September 06, 2017, 12:09:47 AM
It caught me off-guard when I saw they include a plastic key.

I like this idea in a tool.  It would have to cover a key that I seldom use.

That's what I did.  Even though it easily gets out of the way, it didn't make sense to be around my primary key.

the tweezer part is baffling, or maybe the arrows are obscuring it?

Yes, it is weird.  In order to use the tweezers, you have to remove the key from the tool.  I don't worry about it, as I have other tweezers that are very easily accessible.

I got one of these as part of one of my Cheap Tool Challenges and I really did not care for it.  It was made of thin sheet metal and had a lot of sharp edges and corners that I was concerned about.

I agree.  I still have mine on the keyring, but it's always sticking me in some way.  I've not used it yet, but I question how well it will function as a screwdriver.  Very thin sheet metal.

Just an update...  I'll probably be removing this from my keyring.  It has too many sharp points that just continue to poke and get caught onto fabrics, etc.  In addition, the tweezers are unusable, unless you remove the key.

Those were pretty well exactly my thoughts on it as well.  When that sheet metal pokes you, it is merciless!

I carry a dual purpose OPT in the shape of this True Utility tool + the Key tool with Phillips, saw and blade, mini flathead etc. (below the Alox classic in the pic)
They both fit each other as if they were tailor made    :salute:

PS: that's not my actual keychain but a mess mix-up of my favorite keychain tools

+1

Got one, it just stays in a drawer. Half the tools are useless/unusable unless you remove the "internal" fake key. Which means that even if you combine it with a "real" key, it still wouldn't be practical/easy to use.

An interesting curiosity, at best.

 :P
