Gerber FAST DRAW vs Protek GT 2000
on: June 20, 2015, 05:59:14 PM
I just bought a Protek GT 2000.  I compared this tool to the Gerber FAST DRAW because both knives have similar features and closely resemble each other.

The GT 2000 has a flipper and deploys using one hand.  The FAST DRAW does not.

Both knives have the "patented" Vallaton lock button, so both knives lock securely whether opened or closed.

Both knives have a working functional clip.

Both knives have a sure grip.

Both steel blades are sharp enough to cut grass and twigs stuck in the bottom of my lawnmower.

Both knives are light and fit into my pocket.  Both knives feel good in my hand.

So, I give the nod the the Protek GT 2000 because on the one handed deployment.

I have owned Gerber knives for many years, so I was surprised by the outcome.

(On the following pictures the Gerber FAST DRAW is on the top while the Protek GT 2000 is on the bottom.)

No ones replied, but I guess ill try to help. First off, ive owned the fast draw, and EDCd it for a couple years before I lost it. Its a spring assisted knife, so it is definitely one hand openable. I assume the protek is also spring assisted, but if not, is still likely one hand openable. Knowing nothing about Protek, and knowing the gerber meets your one handed requirement, id get the gerber, for the lifetime warranty, if nothing else.

EDIT: Just re read the first line. So, ignore most of the above. How is the Protek? Is it spring assisted? Are you happy with it?
