Hehe...

I live in PA Dutchland where swiss/german names are very common. We've got names like Shellenberger, Swartzendruber, Zimmerman, Ebersole, and the like. Anyhow, Wenger is a common last name around here (my Grandma was a Wenger), and it's pronounced two ways. The "ng" part of it is soft, like it is in "singer", not like "stronger". With that in mind, it's either pronounced "weng-er" or "wang-er". I say "weng-er" cause I think the other one sounds a bit off. :P Although I've never actually heard them say it, I would guess that the "plain" people might say it "veng-er" (still with a soft "ng"), though the rest of us would call that "dutchified" English, since they would say almost any "w" as a "v".

That's how it's said here anyway, but I can't really comment on how the real Swiss would say it...

Oooooooookaaaaaaaaaaaay...

Victorinox is superior. To everything. Wenger/Leatherman may have more varied toys, (see Business Tool for reference) but no other company comes close in sheer quality.

There. Thread revived.  >:D

I emailed the Swiss offices of Victorinox and Wenger and asked them. Vic just replied:

=====
You can pronounce Victorinox as follows:

"Victori-nox" - Please note that the "Victori" is NOT pronounced as "victory". The "i" in Victorinox is pronounced like the "i" in "it".
