What a CRAP day!!!!

Hottest July day on record in the UK.... significant later....

I was up early to meet a work colleague before heading off down South to see an Aerospace company who was having tooling issues. When I got back home I was drenched with sweat and my personal mobile was ringing. It was a mate of mine calling to confirm details for a funeral I had to go to this afternoon (a good friend of ours who recently discovered he was riddled with cancer) and could he have a lift!

I ran a bath as I was doing some work stuff, bathed, then finished off the work stuff as I dried off. Threw on a dark suit and tie, threw a couple of glasses of water down my throat, and went back out into the heat. My black car with black leather interior only blows ambient temperature air as my aircon needs regassing. Within 30 seconds I was soaked again. I collected my friend from his house, went to the crematorium, and the service hit me harder than I was expecting.

The order of service pamphlet was full of photos of my old mate who I saw several times every week from when I was 16 to well into my 30s. Stage society, snooker, tai chi, there was always something that drew us together. Feeling a bit drained, four of us went to raise a pint in honour of our fallen friend and catch up and share anecdotes. It was early evening when I got back.

within 15 minutes the phone was ringing again....

This time it was my brother on the phone in a bit of a flap. He said it's a long story and I haven't got time to explain, but the bottom line was him and family (mrs, 4 year old daughter, and 16 year old step daughter) were being booted out of their house and had to be out by 8am tomorrow morning. They'd run out of time and needed more hands/cars to get everything to my parents where they'll doss down till they get something sorted. I took the suit off, threw on some shorts and a tee shirt, emptied my car boot and shot out. Due to the tight road and parking on both sides I can't turn my car round on their ye olde dead end street, so I backed down slowly. Reverse one cars length, pull forward 1/4 car length to tweak direction, and back up a little more. Rinse and repeat, looking left, looking right, stopping to tweak and adjust, until CRUNCH. My bumper hit another, popped my bumper off and scuffed theirs up a treat.

Brilliant!

So it looks like my no claims might be screwed, my insurance premiums going up, my friend dead and cremated, (also discovered another friend has developed health issues too), my brother and more improtantly my 4 year old niece technically homeless, my bumper badly scuffed up, and my mother goes to hospital for more tests tomorrow to try and decipher what her breathing problems are.

I've been up since 5am, it's now 11pm, I've not eaten, physically exhausted, emotionally drained, and trying to get more fluids in my system but they just keep escaping out of my skin. Alarm goes off in 6 hours!

Just needed to offload guys, thanks for listening! I'll bounce right back as always, but sometimes you need need to offload something before you pick you're ready for the next round of craziness

Sometimes it's just best to vent and/or talk to someone. My doors always open,(and that goes to everyone on here) Someone on here and I pm, if it wasn't for the other person I think both of use would be in a mental facility

Many thanks to all for your kind words  I don't like bringing this kind of crap to the forum, but it was too late in the evening for a phone and grumble routine, and I had to throw it at someone 

Phew! Another hot one! Shirt is soaked again

Brother is sounding happier, and it seems there is progress as to putting together a workable plan for them in both the short term and medium term. The owner of the car I bumped has agreed to let a mate of mine look at it to see if he can sort it without having to go through the insurance. Both of these are fluid situations though, and it could go either way, so not getting my hopes up just yet. No change with my mother, but that's a long running situation, and no change is generally viewed as a good thing.

The money aspects have come at a bad time as I've just forked out for some kitchen appliances, but the people involved are all bearing up and taking in their stride.
