And on my issue, i got a full refund on the Tread.
Now i am tempted on the Tempo.

No offense taken. I didn't buy it based on your preferences ;-)

To each his own. The Tempo is a serious hunk of metal at 9.6 ounces. My Seiko diver watch is 7 ounces and I rarely wear it because of the weight.

This gshock/tread combo is only 5.5 ounces and fits under my cuff. It has solar charging, atomic time sync, and 29 world time zone settings. It's the perfect travel buddy for me.

Thanks! My first Leatherman. I've carried a tiny SOG for a long time. I also ended up getting a Charge plus TTi with the Tread.

I really just want to vent! I ordered a set of links for my Tread so i could add my Casio watch. I ordered and actually waited 3 months for delivery, all the way to South Africa. Eventually it arrives today, and fitment started. Everything went well only to find out the standard Tread screw does not fit the Chronolink! I had to make another plan and used another screw, but it does not look the same! And it is not as if i can just return it, postage will be more than what they cost. So, to say the least i am pretty pissed!

Further to my initial post, i established that this is actually fakes, sold on ebay. So be careful. Even though the little leaflet inside the box indicates Chronolinks, it is not original.

Hi All,

I just become an owner of a black thread. I brought it snd hand and unfortunately one screw was missing. Does anyone know where could I get replacement screws for the thread?
Thx

Hi guys!

Just wanted to see if anyone else has same PROBLEM  with the TREAD.

Hanshakes and high fives started to open it ups easly. Does anyone have same problems? Anyone with solutions?

Do you think the warranty should cover this in?

Have a good one and '' let the tools be with you ''

Sorry for the delayed response guys

Welcome to :MTO: SCUBA :tu:

There are a few that have and use the Tread on here but not much discussion has gone on lately about these :ahhh I don't know much about them myself but seems like contacting Leatherman about your issues would be the best course of action and see what they say :salute: Hope you both have good luck in getting them fixed and let us know how it goes :tu:

Not sure why handshakes and hi fives would cause the screw to loosen .  Is the tread a real one?  I ask cause there are some really nice fakes out there.  I'd apply some blue thread lock on those screws myself.  That should prevent any loosening yet would still provide you the ability to loosen later.

I bought and returned a Tread Tempo. Unless you are a fan of fat and heavy Invicta watches, I recommend not to buy the Tempo. You are better off with buying a standard Tread, 3rd-party link adapter, and a watch face of choice (preferably with steel casing). Granted, the Tempo has stronger link connection than the 3rd-party link adapter, and has proper fit adjustment. However, the thing is seriously HEAVY. They need to make the watch face out of titanium to justify the $450 price tag.

thx @Poncho
@SCUBA GIGI- i do not quite understand you yet...i had 3 Treads, the black oxide was returned and ...i'm trying to say that i had experience with 3 Treads.
The buckle or lock mechanism, with one ball is designed to open at a specific relatively small amount of force, i believe it is for our own safety, the bracelet will not give the way your wrist/hand/flesh will , if you are caught in a nasty situation.
All the three Treads, if they sit on my wrist and i bend my wrist hard, or with a shock, the Treads will open.
I just clapped my hands hard , a little hard, and it opened, both of them.
Now...if you give a strong man handshake like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-OW4SAZgXY, it definately will open.
Try to check one in a store  to see how it behaves.

I prefer the tread without a watch. It's heavy enough as is.

My Tread is in its packing and has been for a while.  I liked it well enough and didn't have the situation of it opening.  I also dont have arms the size of those fellas in the video .  The Tread IMO is a neat gadget.

Wow... I used my BO tread for a month and did not looked like that.
How acidic is your sweat? My grandfather had diabetes and his watches would rust-oxydise on his arm, so he went for thick  large leather strap

Finally added my knock off Tread to my Seiko watch, 6.1 oz total..heavy but functional. Without the silicon o rings it would be almost too painful to wear though. Also the o-rings give some grip that lets you turn the 1/4 inch hex wrench into a driver for hex bits.

Missed the Tread that I won in a Leatherman contest. Pondered ordering one for the last year, but it's that price ya know. Decided to bite the bullet and buy a BO Tread, and having a small engraving done. Hope the BO is okay as looked at another fella's post above and my sweat does okay with stainless steel. Had worn a SS Tread for a bit over a year and no issues, even took it on several plane trips across the USA and they airport security people told me to leave my jewelry on. LOL - Jewelry I thought, and snickered inside.

When I gave the Tread away to Tracey Ramsey, who never won a thing from any Leatherman contest, had noticed the bits actually fit a lot on the TerraTrike Rover. And I kind of miss the thing, even though the clasp would unlock itself when catching something in the hand, and the like. Hopefully Leatherman added the ball bearing spring thing on both sides, but won't hold my breath.

Probably should of stuck with SS over BO, but the price was the same, so figured 'why not?' and ordered one. Is the BO the same as the BO Surge, or is it more like the coating on a Skeletool CX? Guess will find out in the next week or two. Wished Leatherman would of stuck with the Postal Service for shipping as UPS takes literally a week+ to get from Portland, and USPS is like the next day. /sigh   Ah well.

Okay, got my Tread in earlier this month and trying a 30 day challenge using it. This DLC Tread came in the same day as my Thorogood 1957 boots did. Was a very happy day!  :D

Now, have a question. Has anyone tried using the glass breaker to, ya know, break automotive or any other type of glass with the glass breaker - yet? Seen a 7 second video of a guy using the Tread as a flail and breaking a window. Unless the carbide glass breaker actually did the work and not the flail technique, don't think that counts.
