Beijing Olympic knives and an odd pair.
on: June 26, 2012, 12:56:25 PM
Here is something you don't see every day.  I am told it is a set of 5 commemorative Victorinox knives made for the Beijing Olympics of 2008. Each features a very nice metal tin that looks like a medal of sorts with a removable lanyard so that you can wear them like a medal. I couldn't find anything about them online after doing a quick search.

the lids pull off and you are greeted with some informational inserts. I cannot read Chinese, so I have no clue what they say.

Removing the paper overlays reveals the knives inside.

The knives  themselves are Spartans. I took one out and flipped it over to see what the other side looked like.

The set of 5 came inside a carrying bag.

Very neat I think, and different.

Up next, a Dream Classic, and a Cow Classic.

It looks like there is no end to the variety and numbers of special limited edition classics out there.

No gift box here. I take it these are individual pieces and yours comes as a complete set. but that is just a guess on my part.

The Olympic knives are neat. I managed to pick up one of the blue ones without the container. Is the woman a swimmer, a gymnast or what?

Thanks,
 Karl

Reinier, you are correct. I had to look at them again. They are indeed 84mm and not 91mm.  :salute:

I would hazard a guess she is a swimmer due to the water like colours and graphics.

Doesn't it say "diving" on the paper inlay (second picture) ?
:)

I can get one or two sets of the Peking set for for around $200 each if folks want to snatch them up while they are available.  Low numbers too.

I can confirm that the Beijing Olympic set that is available for 30% off (8000ntd*.7) is without the fancy packaging.  They are NIB in the standard silver Vic cardboard boxes.
