I just got back from my 7 day trip to Switzerland  8).

We (me, my wife and my two boys) had a great time there, despite the fact that the hotel was a bit of a bummer (no internet for example even though the brochure said there was free wifi, turned out the free wifi was only in the lounge, and I had no intentions of spending much time in the lounge ...  ::)).

So, no MTO for 7 days :ahhh (except for that one dark evening when this weird looking guy was spotted hanging out in front of the lounge with his tablet in his hands, moaning about the awful internet connection speed).

I just got home from a 9 hour car trip (4 of them in pouring rain), so you guys are going to have to wait until tomorrow for the pics, I will post a small preview however ...  ;)

Here's a pic of my "goodiebag":

And here's a pic of yours truly in front of the Factory in Ibach (schwyz):

More will follow these next couple of days  ;).

P.S. How about that "Ibach Pilgrimage badge" Etherealicer suggested ...  :pok:

Without further ado, here are the first pics  :D.

I'll start with the pics of the Victorinox Visitors center and brand store in Brunnen.

First thing I noticed were these beauties:

After looking around the brand store, we went down to the basement where the "museum" is located:

Anyone need a scale ...

More pics will follow  ;).

Only the pic of the 2015 Pioneer/cadet/classic was taken in the shop, all the other pics are from the "museum", so sadly enough, the knives you see there are not for sale ... .

I like the "LM Flair" style fork...

I do not recall seeing a fork on a SAK before     :D

Those knives never made it to production, they're all prototypes.

What a terrific trip and great pics.  I'd love to visit one day but these pics will have to do for now.

Thanks for sharing.

I also think a badge for visiting Vic factory would be awesome.

Okay, I've been sorting out pictures for two days now (and I still have some work to do ...  ::)).

Anyway, here are a couple of pics taken during one of our hikes over there.  Here our goal was the top of a mountain called Tschingel 1, right next to the Axalp Horn.  My brother knows these mountains quite well since he climbs them two days in a row every October during the Axalp flight demonstration of the Swiss Air Force (yep, my brother is a plane spotter).

We've started out with a group of eight, the first ones to give up were my mother and my brothers girlfriend, after a couple of hundred meters climbing (I mean a couple of hundred meters in altitude, not length), my father, my wife and my youngest son threw in the towel (my father headed back to the two who stayed behind, and my wife and youngest son stayed where they had stopped to wait for me, my oldest son and my brother when we would return over the same path after we went for the top).  We left our backpacks with my wife and started the final ascent, with only my camera bag and a couple of plastic bottles (and my Swisschamp and Swisstool, but that goes without saying).

And after quite a climb (in the blazing hot weather) we got to the top.  Here are the pics:

This first one is the only pic I took during the ascent, after this cabin it started to get quite heavy and I put away my Canon until we reached the top.

Once we had reached the top, I took out my Canon again and took some pics, and I continued doing so during the descent.

Me and my oldest son:

And going back down we took some pics with the targets the Swiss Air Force use during their Axalp flight demonstration in October in the background.

And then we continued our descent:

Hope you guys and girls enjoyed the pics, more will follow  ;).

Reckon that is some stunningly beautiful country to hike in. The Vic museum looks like a place one could spend a fair amount of time in enjoying the SAK's and their history. Thank you for sharing your trip with us TG24!      :tu:      :)

Here are some pics I took from our visit to the Aletsch Glacier.

This one had been on my "to do list" right from the moment we decided to go to Switzerland, and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

And here's a pic of yours truly  ;).

Haven't been there in a long time... so pretty...

And how precise is the altimeter in your watch?
Sadly, we can only see the first 2 digits of the "official" altitude (white part of the blue signpost).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Sadly, we can only see the first 2 digits of the "official" altitude (white part of the blue signpost).

When you calibrate the altimeter with a know altitude at the beginning of your trip, and you select altimeter mode, it's very accurate.  Didn't notice the altitude on the signpost when I was there (I was looking at my Swisstool ...  ::)), so I can't say how accurate my Suunto was there, but during our descend from Mount Titlis, the most he was off was about 10 meter.  My Casio Riseman (which I carried with me in my photobag) was 20 to 30 meters off.

Like I said, you need to calibrate the altimeter as much as you can (goes for every altimeter), when I see a signpost, or a building with the real altitude on it, I caibrate my altimeter.  But I was impressed by the Suunto Core (just like last year in Austria  ;)).
