Leatherman Flair, Byrdtool

Good morning good folks (Gut morgen gut Leute)

I happened to see in an out-of-the-way store a selection of discontinued multitools (at unfortunately not discounted prices)

They had leatherman flairs, minitools, and byrdtools (the one that is a range of functions in a harp shape frame)

I am trying to decide if it is worth the $$$ (several hundred?) to add these to my safe.

Anyway, I thought I might throw this up to
A. Give everyone hope that they might find that obscure prize somewhere.
B. Invigorate conversation on these old, not necessarily very successful models.

I am sorry for the stodgy content, my internet connection is terrible and doing anything at all is frustrating.

Unless you particularly wanted it, the harp-shaped Byrdtool isn't worth all that much (IMO).

NIB LM Flairs and Mini Tools can fetch a bit of money, but I would only spend a couple of hundred dollars if you are really, really keen on NIB/NIC tools (and don't ever use them or they will lose value).  Early "clean-skin" SS or BO Mini tools are worth more than the more common later SS ones with a US PAT stamp on the handle.  Which variant are you looking at ?

If you do an advanced search on eBay with sold tools specified you can see what stuff has actually sold for recently (as distinct from what over-optimistic sellers sometimes ask for)

There was at least one BO Mini, (the one on display) there was some other boxes behind it, but I am not sure what secrets they held.

I am only interested in one in a passing, wistful sort of way. I am quite minimalist these days and only buy what I can keep in my Zombie Proof Cruiser (unless I see a really really great deal, and then get it as a gift for someone)

I might consider offering them a cash price, a bit less than they are asking? Surely by now they would consider the stock a loss and be willing to recoup at cost.

Definitely worth asking if they want to get some current $$$ and get rid of these old, superceded tools that are taking up their valuable display space   I'd offer them 50% of the list as an opening gambit (that is probably somewhere around what they paid for them).

And if there is a extra NIB BO Mini available I might be interested (depending on how persuasive you are at convincing them they need to reduce the selling price to get rid of them).
