Ontario Rat 2, Paramilitary 2, Tenacious
on: July 15, 2015, 04:57:16 PM
Hi guys, would anyone with the following knives take a photo of them side by side? I just need a photo of:

1.) RAT 2 beside a Tenacious
2.) RAT 2 beside a PM2

Opened & folded, if it's not too much to ask :)

I have the Rat 2 and I've been thinking of getting either the Tenacious or the PM2. I'll be purchasing from a local online seller, haven't seen them being sold in stores locally, so I haven't held/seen either one of them. I just want to get a better feel of both before I pull the trigger since they're quite expensive over here (even the RAT 2 set me back by US$50).

Tenacious @ US$75-US$80
PM2 @ US$185-US$190

US$185 is a huge chunk of what I earn in a month lol. I've been checking local online sites for a used one but haven't seen any.

But I've been thinking that if I buy the Tenacious, I later might long for a PM2, which was why I've also considered going straight to the PM2 despite its price. I neither have the budget nor the need to have both (I know, I know..  :D). Will get either one by next month.

Thanks,
Val

Hi, welcome to MTo!

Sadly I can't help you, as I have none of the knives you mentioned.

I can send you a pic of a Rat 2 with a Tenacious in about 2 hours.  The Rat 2 lives in a kit I keep in the car, and my wife has the car  :-\  I don't have a PM2 though, sorry.

Welcome.
Sorry. I only have a Tenacious and a PM2 on its way so can't help you with photos either.

I can tell you two things though:
1 - These are RIDICULOUS PRICES, especially for US. I don't want to advertise it but I got my knives from www.knifeworks.com and they cost half of what you are saying: Tenacious 37 USD and Paramilitary 2 106 USD, free US shipping
2 - The Tenacious is a great knife, but it will make you long for a PM2.  ::) This is what happened to me. It is a great edc, feels great and has great lock-up, but it feels a bit blocky and the steel isn't something to talk about. If you can afford 100 USD and you don't want a beater, get the PM2 directly.

The Rat never appealed to me so I won't say anything about that.

It's dark so I just used a Zebralight to quickly do this.

A PM2 for even $200 is worth it.

Not what you asked for but might help in comparison. If you like the Rat II why not get a Rat 1 ?

Rat I and II

As soon as I rob a bank, I'll do that

I'm afraid I'll have to sell my only Tenacious to afford the Green Farmer as funds are thin this month...

Ha thanks, definitely glad I was able to pick one up.  I would second the recommendation for owning several colors of it ;)

I just have a blue ambitious that really wants to cut my finger open. I was going to get a tenacious for my stepfather but a skyline popped up.

So I dont have a PM2 nor either RAT but I do have a Tenacious and will say its a great knife for the money.  Ok now that being said let me also say.......... from what I've learned it's cheaper to just get the item you want rather than try several items that might satisfy in the time being.

Good luck and shop around for best price  :tu:

That's a little rich for a budget folder especially when a Rat I and II can be picked up 20-25$ easy on eBay or Amazon. But I will own a tenacious one day hopefully a blue one.

Fully agree, just weren't sure if you were attached to green  :)

Yeah, or even a Byrd. Most of them are ~$20

Hi all, sorry for the late reply, have had a horrible past couple of weeks. Logging in, I really appreciate the warm welcome, and all the replies.

I've never owned any black oxide tool before so I chose the black Tenacious.

I carry both everyday. Mall ninja comments aside, I think they look pretty cool  ;) I was looking at the PM2 but at the price (~US$190)  and for what I will be using the knife for (a beater), I chose the cheaper one. It won't be happening anytime soon but the PM2 will most likely be my next purchase, that is if I don't give in after seeing  eddie1115's green Tenacious

eddie1115, SteveC, shark_za, thanks again for taking the time to post those photos!

Cheers.
Val
