Good to see folks getting they're bikes out, the season is starting to wind down here, I put mine away the first time they salt the roads
But for now I added a small Fairing, I like the looks and it's surprisingly good at cutting down the wind and buffeting on the Hi way

G'Day Greg,

That screen looks good. Like you I was surprised how effective a small screen can be. The R9T screen does the same as you described.

Cheers, Pete

When I got the Guzzi I had the dealer install a small clear flyscreen right away, and I was surprised at the amount of wind it takes away compared to the bike I took the test ride on (which had no screen).

On the Beemer I initially had the big screen installed, but that was simply too much and I replaced it with one of those much smaller MRA Vario screens (about this size too) - more than enough.

Just the right size Greg, and good looking too  :iagree:

Edit: going to be a beautiful day today but it's still a little bit cold at 6° C. And I left my autumn kit at the office, and today's a bank holiday here...

Givi S321 (Italian lights, fit where the bike comes from). Had them (or slightly different coloured ones, the S320, there are also S322s) on the Beemer too. Small and bright, if you aim them right, the lights have a wide sideways coverage but not much in height.

Edit: not so nice today after all, clouds rolling in and spots of rain appearing. Let's see in a couple of hours...
As to whether I'm happy with the lights, yeah, they do add to your profile. I don't ride a lot in fog, of course :D

Cheer D_T,

I'll add them to my list. I also want round ones for the R9T. They seem to fit the profile of the bike better than square ones. And off coarse yellow covers.

You're welcome

Mind the not entirely even front lens though, for the covers.

Come to think of it Pete, if you want yellow lights, it might be an idea to add a yellow filter behind the front lens (assuming this is accessible). The front lens is in fact rather uneven - it has a built-in ellipsoid lens that protrudes forward by about 4 mm and it will be difficult to fit a cover over it nicely, unless you don't care about the final looks (what? on the R9T?  :o :D).

Thanks DT

Looks? Allways important!!!

My GSA had a similar lense and I could not find a cover that would stay on. The closest I got was to add a yellow wrap cover to it but the bulge made it very difficult to get a perfect fit. I ended up adding a second set of fog lights that came with yellow covers.

Darla and Clear water have yellow covers for their lights. I like the Darla's as they have a dimming function built in. I have a set of clear water yellow covers too.

I will only add them next year once the bike is out of warranty.

Off to a 3 day ride on Wednesday. Will post pics upon return

Pete

G'Day,

With a couple of days off I have had a few days on the bike.

Our first trip was to a mates farm to watch the sheep being sheered. My kids and the others that went along are city folk for most of their days and this was the first time they saw such an event. The sheep was adopted about 18 months ago due to the fact it did not want to leave. Being part time farm folk the owner and his wife spend most of their time in Sydney. Thus the sheep never had it's tail cut or the man bits taken care of. All this has bred a sheep that now wants to show dominance and it head buts all of us. The kids took the brunt of it as they are shorter and lighter. I must admit this things head is pretty hard. And now that most of the fluff is gone, even harder. The shaving took about 10 minutes and left a very thinner slightly confused sheep.

The ride down and back was good. I had the boy-child on the back. Once at the farm the two boys could not wait to get on the bikes and quad. My son is 15 and the other boy is 10. They had a ball on the bikes for the two days down there. Riding back we got cold weather, rain, fog and sunshine. All in all a very nice three days out.

The next trip yesterday was with our daughter for breakfast. She is busy studying for finals and I thought a breakfast out in the national park at one of our favourite cafe's will do the trick. It was an excellent day too. She does not often ride with me so every time with her on the back is special.

Tomorrow we are heading for a small 400km day with a mate that got himself a "new" 1984 BMW R65 LS. This is his second one and it will be a shakedown ride after quite a bit of work on it. I am taking the GSA again in case we have issues with the bike. I'll post pics of that ride tomorrow evening.

Pics are of the kids, sheep and farm. With spring in the air (well sort of), it was still pretty cold, as the farm in in the Ozzy Snowy Region. Plenty of bees were out in the orchard. The fruit trees look happy!!!  :D

Cheers,

Pete

Cheers guys!!!

Today was a very good day. The weather was biking weather!!!

Three of us started the day to our favourite brekky place in the Yango National Park. It is the same place I took the girl-child on Monday. R1100RT, R65LS and the R1150GSA. The mate on the LS got it two weeks ago and has been going over it adjusting and tuning it as it was sitting for a year without being ridden. Finally today was the shakedown run. It ran very well and easily kept up with us. We saw two kangaroo's very close to the road. The first one stayed put but the second one tried to play chicken with us. Luckily I saw him from quite a distance and we could slow down to let him pass. I am still amazed how quick the big bikes pull up if you jump hard on the brakes. After the breakfast the RT left and Kelvin and I did the rest of the run around to second breakfast.  :D

The LS is from 1984 and in very good condition. This is his second one. When this one is completely done we will have a LS day with me and him on his two bikes. I will share that day too!!!

Another excellent day in Oz and on the bike.

Cheers, Pete

That red bike is fabulous.  I remember when I was in college and rode a CBR600.  My class mate rode a BMW ( cant recall the model ) and I loved it. It was a cafe racer style bike and we had a heck of a time after class riding.

Boy it seems like eons ago.  Crap man, I'm at that age where I'm telling stories of my yesteryears.  SIGH.  I'll go oil my hip and get back on the porch waiting for whipper snapper to dare walk on my lawn

Nice one Aloha,

Old memories of bikes are cool!!! You should dust the old license off and go for a ride!!! I think many old BM's started riding careers.

Sorry to hear of the Northern having to wait for better weather. We are lucky here to be able to ride 365 days a year!!!

Cheers, Pete

Riding this weekend. My folks live in Newton County Arkansas and I will be going to see them. They live near the Buffalo National River, and my ride takes me through some beautiful country. There are plenty of scenic views, twisties, rivers, and I go through the only place in Arkansas with its own wild elk population. Fortunately, traveling back home, I can take a completely different route that is just as beautiful, and takes me through the famous Pig Trail Scenic Byway.

There used to be an indigenous elk population in Arkansas, but it was wiped out decades ago. They brought a small population back in the 1970s to rebuild the herd.
