Your trike is really coming along MadP.  Curious is you could get a dog that could sense your seizures?  Maybe a little one so you could carry if needed.  My little guy was only 4-5 lbs so he could easily be taken most anywhere.  Just a thought.

Our last dog a golden retriever, (not so little at 80lbs) believe it or not we rescued him and when this whole new type of seizure started he actually knew, if I was sleeping would come over and put his head on me or jump on the bed, same if sitting, if I was doing something he’d whimper and start nudging me, at first we couldn’t believe it, the first time I didn’t even have a seizure, but I didn’t feel good, I just got home from work and had to sit down, and he was allll over me, kept licking my face, pinned my arms on the chair and wouldn’t let me move, we thought he was nuts, the Mrs asked if I took my Rx since I didn’t feel good and said I think so, and she went to check and I didn’t, so she pulled him off in order for me to get the Rx down, and he went right back to business, pined me and licking my face, after about 20min he started to cool down and I felt better let alone totally clean, but the Mrs and I kinda put two and two together thinking maybe he knows about seizures? And then the more they came the more he held me down until it was over,
But I’ve looked into programs, there not covered by insurance and cost up to $40k!

Got another err, 3hrs out on the trike, installed a gear shift on it, I wanted one on the handle but none of the cables I had were long enough, then the main bar is larger then a handlebar so nothing would fit, so I rigged it,, needless to say it shifts, just needs to be adjusted,, also ground off the over steering bars, cause they wouldn’t let you make a U-turn within a full road, you’d hit the curb, so the Mrs complained when sparks flew! Lol.. he he,, but I took it for a spin up and down the block, needless to say it doesn’t start well in the wrong gear! I had to reach up and roll the tires to get the thing going on order to get it to switch gears before I could move it by peddle, turned much tighter, so I might be able to ride this thing on a sidewalk,, one other thing I did was took the set of S gears off on the bottom, someone told me to just put a tube and just run the chain through it, only thing is now I got to pop the chain and run it through then reconnect it, such a bitch! Sorry! But tomorrow I gotta strip the parts off the other bikes and make room, supposedly the kids getting a 86 Monte Carlo SS, and idk if that whole things getting put in the garage or just the engine to be worked on? Cause even though it’s a two car there’s not going to be any room!

G'Day JR,

Excellent updates again.

Are you planning to get cables made? A motorcycle shop may be able to assist in that?

For easier u-turns, may I suggest a decent hand-brake?  :D You can get a much better turn even at speed!!! Just don't hit the curb.

Post a pic of the car please.

Pete

Well, if the other cable I have out of the dozen or so fit I won’t need one for the brake, just gotta figure out which handle I want to use, the shift isn’t bad where it sits, it’s kinda better there because it’s less cables to step around, it just goes down the main frame, crap I knew I forgot something, we were at the store and I should have looked for zip ties! Any pics are pretty much going to be the same just switching out the cable shifter and brake handle, just taking a break now since we just walked back from the store and I gotta go strip the parts off the other bikes in a few,, but the BIG change was just cutting those restrictors off, OMG I can turn!

It’s getting there!
Worked on the brake, got the cable ran and figured out the lever, I had about 10, one was perfect but was broke and couldn’t do anything with, “but” I took the handle off and put it on another mount, doesn’t have much pull because of the hand grips, so I kinda moved things around, so the only thing left is the chaining, it’s run “but” it’s long on the bottom and rubs so most people say to just run it through a tube, so now I have a tube but where do I mount it? I found a elbow to the tube and I can figure on mounting that to the body, so I cut a hole right in where the tube mounts so it’s like a “t” but with the one end cut off, so if I mount this, the only thing is to pop one of the pins out of the chain in order to run it through, then re pin it, which i hate since I don’t have one of those tools! Other then that it’s just adjustments for the gears, making the handle angle right, and that’s it,, if all works then it’s going to be time for the cosmetics! I’ve already put about 4 extra reflectors besides the 3 that were already on it to make it look nutty, and I ain’t done  :D

I also stripped the extra bikes I had laying around of all parts  usable, tossed them in a box and then tossed all’s scraps out to the curb, people will be by either for parts or see $$ for scrap metal, one person already picked up the original 20” wheel that was on the trike when I was washing my hands of all the grease,,

I must say very good, I was nervous at first because the handling when it had the other setup was kinda tipsy, and since I cut the bumpers off that restricted the wheels from turning only so far, I was really worried, but since I realigned the wheels since they were like /  \ and not |  | and also put in direct steering, I think it made a huge diff! Took a few sec to get a feel for it but I was going up and down the street, waaaay more comfy then a bike, not split and better on the back!

We ended up going for a short ride, about 3/4-1mi, must say it handled pretty good, was a good push to get up hill but what bike isn’t, that and I haven’t been on a bike for a while, but I staid in first gear and few down hill, didn’t even switch gears, I could have probably took off, but I must say the steering held pretty good even at the higher speed, waaaay better then before, took a few sharp sidewalk turns and it did it, (Got to do those a little slow though!) and just the one simple brake sure in heck did it’s job, stopped right on the line!

I was even thinking mounting an ammo can behind the seat, this way I can have something that locks, throw some tools in, rather then these other things that just strap to the frame, all someone has to do is just walk over and undo the Velcro,

On another note, we went for another ride, this time not to good, I heard a noise but wasn’t sure, we kept going and then “snap” the chain broke.. needless to say I couldn’t repair it, sooo, I ended up having to walk the trike allll the way home, and unlike a bike you can’t just grab it by the handles and walk beside it, no, the handles are way down low, so I ended up having to push it by the seat and keep tapping the wheel with my foot to keep it in direction, and in 90° heat, it ain’t fun! Needless to say I was drenched by the time we got home! But the Mrs ordered 3 sets of new chains which come with the master links so I can easily attach them together, I just have to shorten one to make it the right length! Other then that it rode fine, but I figured what that noise was, it sounded metal-ish, and well, half of the link was missing, so it fell off and hit the road, making like a dropping of a coin,,

Chains came in yesterday, so since it was nice out we went out to the garage and I ripped that nasty greasy three diff type chain off, cleaned the trike up a little, then linked all three chains together, looped and fed it through everything, then spent about an hour trying to knock the one pin out since I don’t have one of the tools, but I finally got it, snapped the master link and back to rideable,, took it for a spin and must say much smother and shifts better! I noticed the one tube I have set up for the bottom to feed through is off a little, so, today since it was cooler and raining it was nice to just sit there and listen to the rainfall while working, but I could simply unsnap the one of the master links, un feed it, cut the one piece that the tube was connected to then reattach, feed the chain through again and “snap” all done! So, I started playing around with some of the body work, filled in a few holes so I could cover them with bondo, then sand it down, dang that stuff works fast! But I got the two main ones filled and sanded, but I couldn’t get to the smaller ones fast enough cause it was already hardened on the cardboard I was using! I made another batch but  still didn’t finish! I just can’t wait to start to get some paint on this thing!!

Finished a small project today. Converted my bar end weights to accept the mirror arms directly - the original attachments were too clunky and too much in my field of view (and they as well as the arms are chromed, making for some glare).
Cheers!
