So my brother and his wife had their baby girl last night (I'm an uncle!), so we went to visit at the hospital this morning. 
While I was there, my brother asked for my MT, knowing I'd have one on me.  He was surprised I just had the Squirt, but he'd left his SAK at home and needed to tighten up a screw on the shower head.  Squirt took care of that no problem.  Well, they're staying until Thursday, so I left the Squirt with him.  So for the next couple of days, I'll use my Squirt ES4 instead:


Oh, and I used the ES4 scissors to cut straws down for my kids at lunch

I'm kinda surprised, that only 19 MT.O'ers dared to take this challenge. I seem to remember alot more people in some of the SAK-challenges.

So far so dull.  Scissors and file have taken care of my fingernails and that's about it.   I did need some hex keys yesterday and obviously the Squirt couldn't provide them, but then nor could any of my other multitools so I don't feel at all bad about having to get the right tools for the job.

Might also be a question of who has the tool in question. Alox challenge was quite open since we could switch between different models

Just a bit of fingernail trimming and cleaning. Plus used the knife to open a blister pack for a rasp so I could fit a new  handle to an old axe

Well, I kinda blew it already, as I spaced out and carried the Victorinox Manager yesterday.

Starting today with the ES4. Will continue into October 1st as penance.

Brought a box of toothpicks to work so I have a fighting chance. No toothpicks at home now; maybe this will encourage better flossing habits.

You don't have the accessory bit kit for Leatherman Wave/Charge/Surge?

Vic has hex bits for the Cybertools, but you have to special order them. Might've been too big though; I think the Vic ones stop at 4mm. Leatherman stop at 6mm.

Some great posts so far.

Had to do a 24 hour drive just hours before the challenge started due to a family emergency. Daringly I grabbed only my squirt. Then had second thoughts and also took my Wave with the bit kit as a backup.

Used the squirt on the road for...
Used the knife to open a DVD package for my kid.
Open a 64oz Rock Star, the built in can opener was missing and this was the only one they had in this size.

These lights are actually becoming more and more popular around here. Think it's because of the hook and magnet. But they really are a pain in the butt, when you gotta change the batteries.

It seems that the whole world is held together with mini phillips screws.   The mini phillips driver on a 58mm Manager is (along with its awesome scissors) is the primary reason I usually carry one.

The PS4's phillips driver is quite usable for larger phillips screws, but won't reach the tiny, recessed phillips that you often see on small electronics.  I recently bought a dash camera for my vehicle, and it too is assembled with recessed mini phillips.  Both the 58mm SAK and Vic PS4 drivers are too wide to reach its tiny phillips screws.

Day two here.. Feeling inadequate with only the squirt. On the plus side, I have a lot of extra pocket space since I don't have a full size MT on me and also a separate edc knife which I usually carry.

Needed to open a can last night, since Squirt doesn't have a can opener, I used the kitchen opener.
(I am sure Squirt blade can open it, but it would a a PITA and might suffer some damage).

Also did some food prep this morning, the blade was just too short for my liking, so used dedicated kitchen knife instead.

That's interesting to hear. I didn't think such kind of a light would be popular, it looks rather cheap (maybe that's why it's popular?) and replaceable. And expensive to maintain - it's got 3 AAA and doesn't look extremely bright. Or maybe it was just used before I got it (my sister gave it to me, knowing i love lights).


As for the philips screws, I don't normally need/use screwdrivers, this was one of the very rare uses I have for a screwdriver. But, hey, you'd better have a tool for when you unexpectedly need it.
