Locking out accidental activation of a light

If I have a flashlight that I want to prevent accidental activation on, does unscrewing the head slightly to prevent activation cause harm to the battery or light? Is there a safe time limit?

I would presume that a twist switch style should be fine as that is how they are designed to operate, but I'd like to lock out a light with an electronic only switch as it keeps getting accidentally activated when I carry it and it's eating battery life.

Any thoughts, experiences or suggestions?

Yes, perfectly safe to do. I've been doing it for years on zebras and other clickies.

And on twisties, try pressing the head towards the body to see if it still makes contact. If yes, unscrew it a bit more.
