Pioneer Alox Collecting Madness
on: August 15, 2015, 12:08:41 AM
Well, got my first Pioneer Alox the end of July and kinda went nuts from there:

I really like the Pioneer. I have my favorite folding knives that are flippers, but they are just not take to work and pull out in the office friendly. But a SAK? That I can do. Been carrying one everyday now :)

I guess I'm eligible for the ALOX Colors Level 1 badge now (lol)

I hadn't EDC'd a pocket knife since I was in my early twenties into a few years ago. I've bought and tried about 25 to 30 folders trying to find the right one. The Kershaw Knockout is my favorite folding knife, but I just think it's a bad idea to take it to my office job. Need something not quite so tactical looking. When I got the Pioneer, it was like "this is it." No more looking. Hit all the right factors :D

Of course I did go overboard just a little. It was a long two weeks, so it didn't seem like I bought them that fast

I got it from Swiss Bianco Canada along with the red one. With the exchange rate, the price seemed reasonable. Reasonable being to me that I am not getting charged a lot more than MSRP, unlike many of the Alox scalpers on Ebay. But I noticed after I ordered that You can get them cheaper shipped directly from Germany right now through Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-Pioneer-Alox-black-Vic0820123/dp/B00LNVD12E/. $40 seems fair deal shipped from Germany. I'm surprised the US Ebay scalpers haven't bought them up to sell them for $70 or more.

The orange and the silver I got first, so mostly them. The blue steel 2015 Limited Edition I think I'll definitely save for very special occasions. I really like the black with the red shield, and if I had found it before I ordered the black with the white shield, might not have gotten it.

It's hard to find different colors at even reasonable prices. And I have pledged to myself that I will not buy from the Alox scalpers, even if I'm sorely tempted by some unusual color. I'd rather pay the extra shipping and order from Europe for similar prices and buy from a more ethical merchant.

I don't think that's going to do it. I think I need the full MTA--multitool anonymous--meeting. Is there a website for that? I know it's NOT here.  :P  :D

+1   I'm in agreement with you there!     :tu:

I also got one from Seitz in late-May/early-June off the bay (including shipping) for $36.  I really like it, but I'm saving it for the time being as my Cadets & Golfers take care of my weekday EDC needs.

I am pretty amazed at what you accumulated in a two week period...very cool!

Are you talking to me? Or all the other guys who posted in this thread who likely have at least one SAK model in more than one color :D

SAK Guy, want to show him a pic of a few farmers?

Next you will be saying there are people here with more then one Cybertool or someone who would pay three or four times what a SAK costs to have it modded by some random guy in Canada. Hard to believe. :pok:

Got a question about Cutlery Shoppe.

At some point, I would like to buy some different colored Farmers. I get the idea that they sometimes get them in, and I know they had some earlier this summer. Is there any pattern to how often they get stock? Every few months? Once a year? Or no one knows?

If you are on FB, join the Alox group. It seems to be like a once a quarter thing. Normally the FB group gets a few days notice and then jumps on it.
Always on the lookout for Blue Alox

No. I closed down my FB account several years ago. Hopefully someone will mentioned it here in the SAK subforum :)
