What happened with SAKWiki?
on: August 21, 2015, 02:51:56 PM
Hi, SAK society!

I've tried to search something in SAKWiki today and was a little bit surprised shocked.
Looks like somebody applied new style (skin) to this old good site. Now it looks strange (at least).

Can anybody check and confirm, that isn't my local problem? I've tried to open it in different browsers, but result the same..  >:(

Whoey is running some updates... it should mostly work (try SHIFT-F5 to reload page).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

It was a long overdue update, partially for security reasons, partially for future updates.

Do you mean that the theme changed or have you experienced other problems too?

The theme was an attempt by whoey to make the site more mobile platform friendly. We might have to revert to the old theme if we can't sort out some bugs.

If you notice anything, let us know. We already know about the layer index links on layer pages and gallery links in the right side modules.

Just to clarify

Yes there is a new style, it's not just you...
There are some hick-ups to be expected, don't worry Master Whoey is onto them...

Shift-F5 reloads the page without using what is in your cache (some problems where caused because the style-sheet was not reloaded properly). In Chrome, shift-F5 needs to be hit repeatedly (it likes its cache and needs a kick in the butt to do as it is told).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Hopefully theres a 'classic site' option like MTO, I always use a tablet and never use mobile sites on MTO or elsewhere. :pok: The regular websites are always better, more functional, and more visually appealing. The load time is only marginally different with a good connection. Some apps are good options (eBay, Amazon, etc.), but in a browser, I always prefer a regular site.  :)
