Strange exploding devices from WW2
on: October 02, 2015, 08:42:24 AM
Laurence Fish was drafted into MI5 by Lord Victor Rothschild’s Counter Sabotage Unit to illustrate how to defuse Hitler’s deadliest gadgets.

Fish was briefed from spies’ reports gathered by Rothschild who routinely X-rayed gifts sent to Britain’s Prime Minister during the Second World War.

Sketches of devices including a flask fire bomb, exploding bangers and mash and booby-trapped chocolate turned up recently at Rushbrooke Hall

Well, to be honest, the pea"shooter" is just a timing device, and would probably work, just not very predictable  8)

The anarchists cookbook uses a cigarette and book matches, sometimes its just to delay ignition to get away, there is no need for precise timing.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Back in the 1970s a number of would-be terrorists in Colorado spread themselves over considerable areas constructing home-made bombs. A local police officer I knew said they were getting their 'expertise' from the Anarchists Cookbook.

Lord Rothschild and safecracker Eddie Chapman (Agent Zigzag) had a pleasant time discussing safe blowing techniques.

Well to be honest, that trick was used in a Macgyver episode long before the Anarchists Cookbook. Not by the man himself but by a bad guy (actually girl if I remember correctly). :P
