$25 to spend. What should I get?
on: September 05, 2015, 07:37:16 PM
I have a $25 gift card to amazon.
I'm taking suggestions on what to pick up.  :climber:  :multi:

I've got my eyes on an alox electrician to replace my long lost silver cross one, rough rider, opinel, svord, mora and various lubricants, polishes and such.

I'm also eyeing some pens, pencils and etc. but I figured you folks would have some suggestions
before I just throw it away on something silly.

Kershaw Cryo is $21.24 as deal of the day on Amazon at the moment. It's a great example of Kershaw's assisted opening design if you have never experienced. Quite a lot of fun the way it can super quickly flip open. Good value for a folder if you are interested in that.

Since you have those already, do you have a key chain flashlight like N_N_R recommended? There are several models around the $20 range which are nice. I bought a Fenix E05 a few years back. One of the best best EDC purchases I ever made.

Get a Mora robust pro series if you dont have one already.  About as good as the Mora Bushcraft black at a fraction of the cost

Don't get anything now.

Apply it to your account and save it until you REALLY want something enough that you don't need help deciding.

Where's the fun in that?
But you're probably right.

I do have a few things I've wanted to pick up but wanted to see if there were any gems out there that I was overlooking.  I'm also realizing how long I've been on knife and tool forums because I have most of the things that were suggested or something similar.

Thanks for all the suggestions though because I've seen a few things pop up that I'm going to have to pick up.

What about a buck xtract? They have a few different models, but a really good tool.

My favorite thing to do with money like that is subsidize a purchase I couldn't quite swing normally. Kinda like buying a $65 BK9 instead of a $90 one  :ahhh

My favorite rationalization is that it's on sale, cheaper than it's ever been.

What do you need the most? That's what I would look at most.

Super Tinker is within your range. If you need a saw, Huntsman is available. If you wanted to get more bang for your buck, I'd recommend a Tinker or Camper (Tinker w/saw), pair of 6 inch slip joint pliers and a pair of electrician scissors. Also, a Gerber EAB is pretty cheap.

Wise option: Save your money, and buy only what you need.

On the other hand, if you don't have a Victorinox Rambler, you should have one. :D

I was checking out West Marin's website a few days ago. Twice interesting options: get yourself the massive Blacktip for like $29 or get a recently discontinued Octane for $27. Both would be a great value and cool collection pieces.
