Star Trek returns to the TV screens in 2017 -CBS

A totally new Star Trek television series is coming in January 2017! The new series will blast off with a special preview broadcast of the premiere episode on the CBS Television Network, and the premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access.

The brand-new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.

Alex Kurtzman will serve as executive producer for the series. Kurtzman co-wrote and produced the blockbuster films Star Trek (2009) with Roberto Orci, and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) with Orci and Damon Lindelof. Both films were produced and directed by J.J. Abrams.

The new series will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout. Kurtzman and Heather Kadin will serve as executive producers.

Oh yeah,there's a new movie next summer too!
There is no beginning,or ending,and for this we are thankful,cos now is hard enough to understand!

There's a couple fan backed projects... I think it's sad it took them this long to realize we've gone far too long without a series...
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.

I don't know about the rest of the World, but IIRC Next Generation was first "aired" direct to video her in the UK. :D

I'm working my way through the Star Trek Voyager series for the 3rd time on Netflix, and after that will hit Deep Space 9 yet again.  So there is plenty out there (if you have Netflix :)) in lieu of the new CBS series.

Yes but Renegates stars Tim Roth (Tuvok), Robert Picardo (The Doctor) and Walter Koenig (Chekov) with some guy named Grant Imahara working on the effects.   

That's pretty unbeatable in my books.
