       Eastern Wild Turkeys.  The toms (males) are strutting their stuff for the hen's enjoyment.  They are wary, and fast, and strong.  Powerful flyers.
      Not turkey season at the moment.  They taste just like all turkeys but are not fat.  The meat is tough as an old shoe.  Why are they so close to my house?  They stay around because there is food and water and nobody bothers them.  They fly way up in the trees at night when the coyotes are more active.  I put a night camera out on a well-used trail this week and the coyotes were everywhere.  Best wishes. With Weekender and wife, drove along the parkway north past a wildlife- wetland area ( yes Bronx). At the stop at the on ramp there was a wild turkey- though that was a drink.

     I just learned yesterday that the translucent orange scales are not named Orange Marmalade.  I'm okay with that.  However the translucent red is definitely Red Jelly.  I didn't come up with that.  Just stole it from someone on MTo.  G

     Well it took a while but I read all of the Spirit Challenge posts.  I said I would, right?  Seems like the members are having a lot of fun.  Well, not all of them.  Several have been sick or had family health problems.  Pretty high spirits all in all.  Fisher seems frisky and Coco is snoozing a lot in the sun with family.  One thing has been bothering me.  Do all Australian Triangle slugs have the red doohickie pointing the same direction?  Good work on the challenge Barry.  Best wishes to awl.  Gary (IMR)

   Yes, it's Spartan Saturday again.  Time to get down on all fours with a coat hanger and fish that scuffed up old Spartan out from under the bed.  Take a photo.  Post it.  Put a check mark next to make a post on MTo on the 'Things to do today' list. 
    All the places in my yard where I ran over the leaves with my Cub are covered with leaves again.  Autumn leaves and grass mowing in the summer are both journeys rather than destinations to be reached. 
    Archie again today.  I will admit that although Veronica is cute and rich, that I like Betty more.  Smiling.  Pretty.  Fun.  Plays good baseball.  Best wishes. G

Good morning, Tony.  I keep forgetting to add Weekender to the Spartan event.  After all a Weekender is just a Spartan with bigger teeth.  Went to post office early this morning.  Vandals had busted up my mailbox.  Again.  Also, there is a bunch of trash thrown out there.  I will walk down later with a bucket and one of those things like tongs that you can pick up stuff with.  I don't know what they are called?  Don't want to bend down too much and handle nasty with my bare hands.  Will carry a Spartan to supervise the work, of course.  Best wishes.  G

 Tony, I went down and cleaned up the trash that someone threw out.  I found his receipt from the Magistrate.  Paid $445 to get out of jail.  Then he got out of town and threw all his stuff on my property.  Lots of stinky trash.  5 cans of Modelo beer that were still cold.  Unopened cans of corn and beans.  I left the organic stuff to let the ants and coyotes eat.  Took the tortillas home for the raccoons to eat.  It's hot dog, queso fresco, and tortillas on the skunk, possum, and racko menu for tonight.  I picked up 5 trash bags full and two big boxes.  Found a good roll of black electrician's tape.  I'm keeping that.   :D Best wishes.  G

    Barry sure is strict with his challenge rules over there.  That's okay.  Come back when you get your nice shiny Spirit badge.  I started reading the posts on Spirit challenge a while back and have kept up with the fun there.  Best wishes.  G
