The Fond Memories from your Childhood Thread.
on: October 22, 2015, 04:29:40 PM
A while back, I found something on eBay that sort of got my attention. You see, when I was a little tadpole, I liked to play with toy soldiers. My favorites were the really small plastic figures. I think I had hundreds of them with supporting gear. Of those supporting things, I loved the metal matchbox ones the most. Therefore, when I came across one of them, old memories that laid dormant came flooding back. I got hit with such a feeling of nostalgia I decided to get the ones I could remember...

So if you are in a sharing sort of mood, you could post images, fond memories, videos or whatnot to this thread.  :salute:

I used to love playing with my Billy Blastoff as I was space obsessed. He had loads of different vehicles.

What annoys me is that some toys I had that were neat, but did not take off, and now I cannot find any information on them.

I had a toy car that had a gyro in it, as you revved up the gyro by pushing the car, it could then be balanced on it's nose, or drive on two wheels.
they were about 40% larger than a hot wheel or matchbox.  and really fun to play with (at least for a few weeks)
If I can help, let me know

I did like toy soldiers, too, btw

I absolutely hated dolls, sets of cups & plates, barbies & all the stuff I was supposed to like ............................. :D

Toy wise not too many toys growing up.  I did have a small collection of hot wheels ( less than 10 ) that were fun.  What we did was play Soldier of Fortune in the local canyons.  We'd "gear up and spend the afternoon making ghilley suits.  We'd make guns from broken tree branches and go out on "sorties".  When the street light went on we'd better have our rears home or mom would "sort" us out  :(

We played baseball, football, and basketball coinciding with the professionals season.  I don't recall being inside much during the summers or weekends.

Okay, now you made me think........

When I was a kid, it were poor years for my country, but my father had some sort of a business of his own, so he could provide... and I had all the toys I could probably want. Still.................. I loved and used to play with the trash. Trash = broken stuff, parts of broken things, old unused keys, screws, glass pieces in various shapes, chains, literally whatever you can imagine. At my best I'd sometimes try to assemble a new toy of my own out of these :D Well, "toy" is actually a compliment, I needed a lot of imagination to call these toys, but I had plenty of imagination, too :D

I also used to collect and loved coins and banknotes and money in general, it seems  A friend of my father's gave me an empty cigarettes pack full of various coins from different countries, this was my treasure for years  My sister had collected a tiny metal box of coins, too, over the years, so I was later given these, too.

I spent a great deal of my childhood reading books (boring, heh?) and "playing" lots of the stories to myself later, me being the main character, of course :D

Jeez. It'd take a lot of time and space if I were to put down all my memories, lol.

Ok, guys, what's "hot wheels"?
