Cap Crimper PST
on: August 16, 2008, 07:28:53 PM
It may not seem that special to the rest of you blokes, but I've been after one of these for years. Thanks to a certain Mr. Kwakster from across the ocean, I've finally got one!

Other than the crimper hole in the jaws it is identical to other Leatherman PST's of that era. (Date codes 0696 and 0796) Yah, I'll probably never actually crimp any prima cord with it or set any explosives, but just knowing I could now brings a little comfort. ;)

Not really. Truth be told I've just been seeking one of these for my collection. :) Cap crimper models in black oxide finish are slightly more common, but these stainless finish ones are rare as rocking horse poop. Must be they didn't make very many of them. Thanks again kwakster! :salute:

Bob it looks in mint condition too  :D . I think you should use the crimper & blow something up in honour of the most generous Kwakster.

What are some of the other multitools you want? So that we can be on the look out for you. I would like to help and I'm sure others would too.

Some interesting discussion about cap crimpers going on in the SOG forum right now in case you missed it: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,6201.0.html

As regards Leatherman cap crimpers, I hadn't realized before how much bigger the cutout is in the old PST as compared to a new Wave. (or Charge XTi, TTi or ALX for that matter)  Seems like the smaller cutout would have more "pinch" and therefore be more useful for non-eod related crimping, things like coax cable and such.

Perhaps that's what LM thought as well ;) about the size of the cutout I mean ::) I really like that PST though  whether it would be for coax or not :D

I just bought this

Seller listed as new, tool looks mint, but sheath is more like "very good" condition grade. Is this rare enough to justify $60 I paid for it?  ???

Yes and it would be nice if it was mine :pok:

 :D

I should add that $50 was a cheap price for them but one certain Ebay seller had several of them if I am thinking correctly  :tu:

It was quite a leap of faith for me. I frantically looked for info about it, and found this thread. I also found another thread about some seller with 50 of them for sales, but both are 10-year-old threads  :P Hopefully the collecting bug did not bite me again  :P

IMO that was an excellent buy.   :tu:

The SS CC PSTs have always been hard to find, and these days even more so.  I paid $175 for a NIB one (all my others were considerably cheaper).

The SS CC Super Tool 200s are even rarer ( I don't think LM Made many of them at all).
