Bit late here,so this may count towards your next RR order. The Stockman is better in the hand than the Trapper. But the Sowbelly pattern is better again. Their Barlow is a real jem;the DogBone Jack is very, very nice;and there's a pattern whose name I forget, maybe the hawksbill Jack(?) is a great work knife!

I did go through quite many patterns, and decided on these two.

Hawksbill knife was on my mind, and still is,  just like Half Hawk. I kind of missed Half Hawk, and saw it after i had already made an order. I might have ordered it instead of Trapper. Maybe next order will be those two.

We want pics when they arrive. ;)

I was thinking guys.. how about a joint Europe order from smkw. They own the Rough Rider brand and have everything for low low prices...
We could annoy just one of our US mates to reship to someone who can pay just one set of customs fees.... then we can reship amonst each other...
In for 4-5 RoughRiders and a tip for both peeps we'll annoy...

I could paticipate on that. But do you think it would really come so much cheaper after all customs fees and shipping? They would be posted atleast three times.

Well.. not many options... Only place in Europe that sells a lot of RR is Heinnie and they only have a few models .. at pretty high costs...

Shipping would be 11+15 divided by 5-6 people + Europe shipping.
Customs and US>EU would be paid anyway, even if we buy independently off eBay.
We might even find someone in here that might be able to sidestep customs fees - I was able to do that too, until a couple of months ago, when customs control tightened up...

If the item is valued under $20 then you do not pay customs tax, here.

Also most of the ebay dealers will give bulk order discounts on shipping so for those wanting to do this you may not have to bother with SMKW.

I have practically all the RR knives I currently think I want, but maybe this can be run as a business.

Someone may order 40 of a popular model(or models) (Red bone barlow, small stockman, Blue bone canoe, stag toothpick etc. are very pretty, small, and easy to sell models) and then just sell them to people, in the EU.

Shipping in an envelope, within the EU, is OK, but as a package it is similar to shipping abroad..

Here neither. You pay customs over 85 Euros... but you DO PAY 24% VAT for everything over 10 EUR.
Also overseas shipping here requires waiting 2-6 months, having your package opened (and occasionally lost) and taking a day off, as they are only open at noon...

So dks.. did I read that you volunteer?  :D
Also.. what distributors do you know that stock reasonably priced.. let's say 5-blade trappers, or Tobbaco bone or Buckshot stag or Stoneworx? eBay used to be full, but now there are only a few and quite expensive...

I might recruit some pals and we might have 10-15 knife order only from RO...

I think for this to work the buyer has to be in mainland Europe, for cheaper shipping around Europe.   :D :D

I just buy from the usual dealers on eBay: weaim2pleez, knifeguy78, urknifesource, ericf101501 etc. Usually I try to buy a few, to save on shipping.

You can still get some bargains with auctions.

They are here. And i have to say, i like trapper size more. Just little bigger, and easier to hold.

Wish Stockman were little thicker and bigger. Maybe sowbelly would have been better choice in Stockman.

That's been my experience when it comes to a small trapper vs. a stockman of the same size.  The trapper is always my choice in that case, though in a two-blade configuration, my choice is a Barlow.  As I and others have said, the RR Barlow is a gem.  I've got four of the suckers.  Traditionally the Barlow is the inexpensive workman's knife in the US, and the RR's don't disappoint in this regard, with the loss of the REAL Schrade, Camillus, Imperial, etc.  I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'll put any of those four RR Barlows against any Case I own in terms of build quality.
