Leatherman tools as movie stars
on: September 29, 2015, 01:40:20 PM
Hi there :)

So I've been looking around for the list of movies where you can find Leatherman tools and found none to be fresh and/or complete, so here I've decided to start a new topic to keep it up to date.

I invite you guys to mention here the movies/tv series where you'll notice some LMs, and, if possible, include screenshots.

The first one I'd like to add is a 13th episode of the first season of "Helix" tv series.
One of the guys is using a Leatherman MUT. Below are a screenshot and a link to imdb.

We have a whole subforum dedicated to multitool sightings in TV and movies called Multi-Media.

You might find a whole lot of ground work for this project has already been done.

Welcome ;)

Thanks for the hint, but as far as I remember the guy said something like "don't ever trust Chinese crappy tools" and the tool didn't really look like a real LM. But it definitely is a multitool anyway

I think that goes down as the No. 1 misuse of multitools--don't use them as a weapon. That's a big no no, and illegal pretty much everywhere.  Anyway, a multitool is something that would be pretty awkward for self defense--of course anything  that can't be opened quickly would be.

No worries, bud, those are just movies and it's not our fault that mostly MTs are misused there, we know how to use them right, but nobody's to ask us

Just saw "A Quiet Place". The daughter of the family gets a Leatherman tool (but I don't ḱnow which one exactly). She uses it later in the movie to cut some wires.

I think Les Stroud used a Leatherman Charge on an episode of Survivorman. Could be wrong.

I think the most popular one was the white skeletool in Oblivion, It was custom and no one had ever seen that color scheme before at that time.

Statham also used the Skeletool in the last action movie he made (can't remember the name, he uses it after coming out of the water in a swimsuit)
and a FUSE is used in that movie where they go to Hawaii for a nice Vacation time and they end up running away from  serial killer

You should really put that in the Multi-Media section.  I think there's a thread dedicated to that....  :pok:

As I understand it, the Skeletool belonged to someone working on the film, and wasn't a paid product placement.  Someone saw it and thought it was a cool prop so it was painted white and put in the movie.

Old thread, but I’m currently watching the X-files and saw Agent Dogget using what looks to be a PST to break into a locked desk drawer. Cool cameo  :D
