Hey from Norway!!!
on: August 17, 2008, 04:34:48 PM
What's up gang!
Been reading the forums since January and finally decided to jump in. I've been a multi tool  user for 9 years. Over those years I've owned about 12 different tools. I currently alternate EDC's between a LM Core and SOG Powerlock S62. I also have a LM Micra on my keyring as well as a Gerber Suspension I keep in my desk drawer and a LM Juice Pro I carry on weekends. Look forward to talking tool with you guys.

Thanks for the warm welcome!
I should have mentioned that I am an American ex pat. I've been living in Norway for three years. My wife is norwegian born and raised and wanted to move back. I'm originally from NYC. The Bronx to be exact.

It's a great country especially for raising kids. I have a seven year old boy and he loves it here, but I do miss home.
Plus the price of MT's are ridiculously expensive here. Even a cheap tool like the Suspension can run between 80 to 90 USD!!! High end tools start at about 175 USD.
Thank goodness for Ebay.

I still don't understand why that is. Is it just because of the ridiculous taxes? ???

It's partly taxes and partly protectionist law's laid down after WW2 to rebuilt our economies, of course it was never lifted ::)

well i believe Finland is one of the most ripped parts of the world, just by taxes so high.
but it wasnt long ago, when there was some discussion about lowering the taxes of products we´re now buying overseas cause some one had woken up to reality and seen that customs are filled with stuff rolling thru it,and they dont have time to check all packages, just let them pass, and most of the stuff comes from japan/china and uk/usa.
i havent bought any even a bit higher prized gear from finland in a long time, and as long as its not looked as betraying your smurfry ill keep on doing it.
here u must pay 22% percent taxes added to all that isnt"vital".
