We actually DO have members who think it's unacceptable to use certain tools if they are deemed collectable. I'm slightly surprised I haven't been  :twak: :twak: for using a 25th Anniversary Wave. If any such members are reading this post, for your info it operates slightly smoother than a standard one, and I paid less than UK retail for it  ;)

EDIT: 11,111th post  :ahhh

Hey, it's yours, you do what you like with it, I don't mind.  Just don't whinge later if you decide to sell it and it's value has been reduced considerably because it was "used" rather than a pristine shelf (or safe) queen.   :pok:   ;)

Congrats on reaching such a large palindromic number of posts  :tu:

 Cheers Greg

I figure if I'm keeping it, the resale value is irrelevant  :salute: I tried modding my first one, and wrecked it. This what what I happened to replace it with, and if I happen to damage any of the exterior tools, I currently have spares  :D

I like to try out new/different tools to figure out what works best. Once I'm through I either sell it or give it away to have room for new stuff.

Rather than having one of everything I like to have multiple of the ones that suit me. But almost everything I own is intended for use.
For me that is currently:
Solders '61
CT29
Spirit
Böker Tactical Roper
As long as I have those 4, I'm good.

There is a small exception, which are several of the more exotic Wenger tools, which I keep for their fidgety factor.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I am also still in the hunt to find my perfect MT / knife. I have owned about 10 mt's in 3 years. Went from extremely large, to extremely small, to medium size. From full load out to basic load out to medium load out.
I have also owned a couple of folding knifes, i now have a EKA Swede 8 and i think this is my perfect folding knife. But because i have said this many times before i may have another knife within a month. But for now i love it.

I mostly buy my tools second hand if possible and always sell them if i get another one. That is because i dont have enough money to collect them.

This sounds about right. :tu:

When I first joined, I was not a collector.  That didn't last long ( ;) ) so I gave collecting a shot.  Then I ran out of money

I'll sell/trade the ones I'm not enamored with, but I've still kept more than I can put to use.

For me its about the hunt, I like to find tools at flea markets, swap meets etc. The older the better, I like to bring them back to life.
I try to use all of them but there are a few shelf Queens that i am saving for my son, All an all i am a MT user/ collector.

I started off with a Wave and a CRKT M16 and was happy with both. Over the last year plus I've tried almost every LM model and Gerber and Victorinox MT. And here I am, ended back with the Wave. Knives are a different story. If it's not USA made or a quality Spyderco, I don't carry it anymore.

SAK's, I went through the Alox craze, still have the Farmer, but resort back to the Climber for workweek EDC.
My collection has gone down from 50+ tools to maybe a dozen. But I'm at least happy now.  :climber:
