I would have rounded that wound out and sharpened it. Kind of like the small blade on the electrician. It would have looked awesome!

Here are the pics. The first one is Vic Camper with bent main blade.
The second is W Lumberjack.

I bought this Fisherman about a month ago.

I bought a Super Tinker to replace the broken screwdriver, scissors, and both blades.   I plan to make this poor beater into a user.  I have still used the can opener to pop off a few scales, and turn a few screws with the opener drivers.

A relative who knows how to repair knives will help me fix it.  If we can't, I'm shipping it off to Switzerland to be repaired.

Don't know why the pics came out horizontal or so small. Hate posting from an Iphone!!! Miss my old Windows phone.

It's not all used up...yet, but it's recycled parts and scales from previous beaters. Call it my Yardsman. It's my yard work knife.
Want to add a serrated blade to it for some reason.

These pics are definitely doing the tool a disservice.

That's a good idea! What's the tool load?

It's essentially a Hiker with plus scales and pocket clip. But like I said I want to add a serrated blade to make it slightly more unique.

That old Fisherman is definitely worth saving, what a cool fishing knife it will be. Good luck with the restore!  :salute:

Right now, I'm leaving the Fisherman as-is.   I still use the functioning tools occasionally.   The original owner's name, apparently, someone by the name of Pounds, is still scratched into the back scale.  This knife could have been carried by that individual for a lifetime. For that reason, it won't be disassembled. I see a couple that are slightly newer ('70s) for around $20 on Ebay, which I will buy later on.

Hmmm - I  like it - That is really respecting the heritage of the knife  :)
But I could not resist restoring it and replacing all those broken tools!!

@Frailer, welcome friend. Looks like a nice healthy patina on that blade.

I think it was someone else’s beater
(Lots of corrosion in there aswell)

Everything’s adjustable

Oh, I have changed my mind before, I do understand. I guess someone's unloved and destroyed piece of junk can have a kind of perverse appeal to some folks. It usually just tells me a little about the values of the previous owner. Some of these artifacts have landed hard in the circular file beside my toolbox, unless they're worth saving. Oh well.  :)

I'm quite touched when I see pics of an apparently far-gone knife/tool that still has a little bit of life left in it. I'm glad there are people like you guys who still love these items :D

This thread reminded me of this knife, a xmas (i think) gift from an uncle at least 25 years ago.

It ended up in a camp fire briefly, I sure there are some chemical burns as well, but for longer that I can remember this has been floating around in my freshwater bait fishing tackle box.  Don't recall ever sharpening it.....

Recalling all these details made me very sentimental, so I rescued and cleaned it to live out its retirement with the other collectibles:

Ouch - yes that was painful (...... and the Wenger above)

That lovely old SAK - old awl, extrernal rivets, patented CO ....... all beaten up  :(
But great to see them so well used - After all that is what they are for.

Was 'Dad' the only owner? And is he still using it?
This knife comes from the fifties I'd say (new CO > '51, old awl and rivets <'61)
If so .... 60+ years of use - Wow  :tu:

My father was the only owner. He passed away a few years ago, so the knife has been retired into my collection.
