Beyond 130mm
on: October 18, 2015, 01:58:49 PM
I've been playing with a couple of 130mm Wenger and Vic Delemont models... and was wondering...

Has a sak ever gone beyond 130mm in length? Are multitools in the sak style even made beyond 130mm? Would it work practically?
Could the sak concept and design be retained? Anyone tried to make one? :)

I dont know the answer but it I thought a while back it would be awesome to see a Vic saw like Bahco Laplander.  I imagine a saw plus large blade.

The Air Force at one time issued a folding machete. Suppose you could combine something like that with a folding saw.

Nice!

I'm also imagining a large lock blade and large saw; but have been wondering what else in the imagination could be achieved.

What larger tools are needed the most beyond what we are used to having in SAK's? Pliers is a big one; but width would be a challenge. Heavy duty screwdrivers? Strong file? I need a hammer a lot, but can't see that working - maybe the claw part? :P

I should think something over 130mm is no longer pocket-size but rather small-ish, full size
