Show me your most precious thing/s you carry along with you, that is part of your edc....

Tell me your story behind it. Wether it has emotional story behind it, or just practical use for edc...

My wedding ring would be the most precious item I carry and I've been wearing it for 30 years.

Precious?  Nothing of high monetary value, nothing of high sentimental value. I suppose I'd have to say my wallet, keys and phone, purely due to how much of a nightmare it would be if anything happened to them, but I don't think that's the answer you're looking for

Yes it is, if those are the things you value most on your edc. Someone might feel same, if they lost something like this forum loves most, a multitool. This happening might rise same feelings, like you losing your wallet or keys or phone... A nightmare.
Many of us are gaining emotional contact to what we own or carry. It becomes a part of family, so to speak.

Easily my phone. I have so many pictures on it of my family. I do back it up occasionally, but I take so many pictures I would surely lose some. The thought of that is excruciating.

Secondary reason losing my phone would bad - it serves so many functions: multiple modes of communication (call, text, skype, messengers, etc...), GPS, instructions to do ANYTHING (Youtube), emergency light source, calculator, answers to any question ever (Google), games, alarm clock, shareable grocery list, timer, stopwatch, calendar, weather, note pad, etc, etc, etc... Hell, I even use my phone as a universal remote for my TV and DVD player.

It just dawned on me how vital my phone is to my existence. I'm a little freaked out now

Mobile as well. Keychain tool as well as attached to keys :) With multitool features are more nice to have. Most urgent tasks usually opening packages those are sometimes almost like a safe you just can't open without the tools.

It's amazing how useful modern phones are. It's also scary how much people rely on them and would be lost without them. I could throw my phone in the garbage disposal right now and I would be fine which I really like. I went over a year without any cell phone at all and loved it.  Only ran into 2-3 occasions it would of been nice to have.

Hm... I also try not to love the objects I have. After all, they're just objects. However, a few years ago, I used to wear a few bracelets given to me by my best friend as well as a pendant which had two halves .... I had two pendants, had given two halves of  it to my BFFs and the other one/s I kept. Both my BFFs live abroad and I don't get to really see them or talk to them often. So, these items I would be ready to kill for and if I were to choose between my regular EDC/MTO stuff that would cost hundreds of USD and these 2-3 1-3 USD items, I'd have chosen the latter ones for sure, over and over again. They were made of leather, though, so they kept tearing and breaking and I don't wear them anymore.

Now ... I'd surely regret and hate losing anything on my EDC, but it wouldn't be a huge pain. I'd definitely hate it a LOT if I lost my wallet/phone/keys as already pointed out. It already happened once and it was a freakin hassle.

I wouldn't crumple into a shattered puddle of despair or anything, but I would have to make some serious adjustments. But, I do like being prepared and a smart phone takes a lot of that load that a back pack full of stuff would equal.

My old school Samsung S2 Skyrocket phone is the thing I would least like to leave at home.  For me, the ability to communicate is paramount.

I live unfettered by the trappings of your civilisation, but I suppose the most important thing I carry is my truck keys, of course I have spares, so (depending on when or where) it might merely be a minor inconvenience.

And Trousers.

I can (in a state of mild distress) get back home without a pocket tool, with no ill side effects.
Doing it without trousers might be a bit more of a challenge (better story though!)

+1

I have an old flip phone with no texting, how I wish I would accidentally run over the damned thing and be done with it. Seriously!  :)

I would rather have to make excuses to everyone why I don't have a phone than have the thing distract me from my thoughts/activities at anyone's whim. I do my interweb stuff on a tablet, good enough for me. :tu:

The most precious thing I carry daily is the key to my old Craftsman toolbox that holds my SAK/MT collection, everything else is easily replaced.

My knife is above my iphone. I will never be more than 30 meters away from my EKA Swede 8.

A knife is a man's primary tool. Every real man has one like a folder, mt, sak or fixed blade. Our ancestors have carried them for thousends of years and i will carry one too. Not only because it comes in handy many times a week.

I use to think I was like you Cappy but noticed the other day I have given up my memory to my phone.

Only have three phone numbers memorized and one of them is mine. Keep a running list of Smurf I have to get done on it.

Not at all pleased about how it has ingrained itself in my life. But on topic of it was lost today I would be fine.

Most important / loved EDC has to be my wedding ring but for tools it would be a close fight between my Swisschamp and my Sunway man V11R.

The SC I got secondhand from JD and it is a early 90s model. Still in great shape but something you know has a history. So many great tools and it rides in my front pocket like a dream. Often forget it is there.

Now the Sunwayman totally opened my eyes to how awesome it can be to have a flashlight on you at all times. Doesn't hurt it is built like a tank and has the greatest flashlight ui ever. Of course I am talking about the ring that you use to adjust the brightness even if the light is off.

I do not EDC sentimental or highly valuable items. Even my wedding ring stays at home and gets worn only on our anniversary. So everything is replaceable. That said, my drivers license will be a real pain to be replaced. Our local DMV line go out of the building and around the block. I guess that makes it my most precious EDC item. Plus I look 20 years younger on it  :D

100% agreed!

The only thing I have on me is a pic of my son Max at the age of four months I use to carry in my wallet - not replaceable.
Never want to loose that pic. It would be tough! Not worried yet, but early this year we will do this whole procedure, but engaged for almost some time and I also keep the ring at home.
