Lego Is Awesome
on: October 23, 2015, 05:14:18 AM
My son turned 7 last week, and with his sister finally being old enough to know better than to put things in her mouth, we figured it was time to really introduce him to Lego.  That, and the only thing he asked for for his birthday was the Jurassic World Indominus Rex Breakout Lego Set(freaking $170).

We got it for him, and my family got him some accessory sets to go with it.  I spent a few hours building it all for him(he got a tad frustrated trying) and I had a blast.  Is it weird that I want to buy him more sets so I can build them?  Legos rock!

Who else likes Legos here?

Lifelong Lego freak here.

Wish I had the money to have more.

I collected sets until I was about... ehh... 35? Then one of my nephews was just getting to the the 'age of lego' and i donated them to his betterment.

Now i only have a few small kits, but love them still.

My kids (oldest is 4) "buy" me a small Star Wars Lego set for my birthday each year, so they all know I'm a fan.  We're still using Duplo's with the little ones, but we have a whole bunch of those too.

I'm in!

Still have an unbuilt 75055 Star Destroyer downstairs.

Got some blind bags for my boys this Halloween  :tu:

For Christmas, my 6 and 8yr old boys are gonna share a 66512-1: Rebels Co-Pack.  Wife plans to decorate this year's Christmas tree with the kids' minifigs.

yes, I'm gonna have to admit to using a Wingman to separate some flat pieces while cleaning up after the boys.

Yup, BEST TOY EVER.  :salute:

I have great memories of my dad building stuff with me when I was little, with my daughter when she was little, and now my nephew. All the same lego I had as a kid, I passed on to my little girl and she has passed it on to her cousin.

Amazing - it never breaks and you can build anything with it.

Nothing remotely weird about enjoying 'helping' your child build Lego. :tu:

Absolutely right, I spent many hours with my son and Lego, I'm looking forward to seeing his face when I give him my big box of Lego  :tu:

Most of the Lego that I had as a kid has been passed on to my nephew, but I expect at some point it'll make its way over to my sons when they're old enough.  I didn't have loads, but there was some nice stuff, including some that belonged to my uncles so there are bricks in there that will be at least 50 years old that still work with the modern stuff.  My eldest (2 1/2) has got a bucket full of Duplo that he likes playing with, and I'm waiting until he's a little older before I give him this:

Can't wait. :tu:

PS: Lego is awesome, not Legos are awesome.  Plural of Lego is Lego. :)

Lego were quite expensive and harder to find compared to Playmobil when I was a kid. I had a few Lego, only to find out I needed many more to actually build things. I liked Playmobil and Lego some but was not crazy about them but that's just me, they're a very good toy for a number of reasons.

They didn't fly fast enough

You can't destroy something that hasn't been created/constructed first.

Also, don't destroy anything until you're in a position to build something new in it's place.

I have most of mine from when I was young still, although these days my new sets tend to be Star Wars related ones primarily.

The monitor shelf on my wife's desk is being supported by lego towers... was the easiest way to get the right elevation she was looking for without making a mess... it's not elegant, but it works!

I'm not aiming at you firiki, I am aiming at the kraken (or ex-kraken as of 2 explosions ago). It would be a very short and dull film if the baddie was dispatched at the beginning. We haven't even got to the carnage montage of you and Nate setting off from your respective bases and burning your way to Oz. I can't wait for that bit. I'm hearing 'Into the Void' by Black Sabbath on the soundtrack.
I can't post a youtubes link from my U Boat - something to do with the armour.....
